I guess people love to start the speculation early. I guess I'd rather not jump the gun on thinking a game is jumping consoles. Its been happening a lot this gen though from what it seems like though. I guess wishful thinking is what really inspires the platform jump.

There's been SMT games on just about every platform dude : there was even one on the Xbox... the series whores itself out to every platform, in fact if you have the series on your console you might want to check it STV (sexually transmitted viruses)

So what you're saying is that All Shin Megami Tensei games are related to Persona? I'm not very familiar with the series personally. I'm basing all of my information off of the name "Persona." I always assumed Shin Megami Tensei was based on the people who made the game, not of the actual Persona series.

More of Atlus and the series as a whole isn't console specific nor have ever been, hell if Atlus could somehow put trauma center on another console I bet they would.

okay. I wiki'ed Shin Megami Tensei
Spin offs include the Persona, Devil Summoner, and the Digital Devil Saga series.
Is that pretty accurate? I'm trying to make sure I have this down so that next time I don't jump into an argument. I still don't see why Persona would go PS, PS2, Wii but it seems to be a recurrent trend this generation so I guess I can't argue that.
My question earlier wasn't so much pointed at the idea of games switching from PS exclusive to another Wii or 360 exclusive. It's more along the lines of Why is that when someone reports a rumor, why does it get turned from being a rumor about the game coming to the PS3 into a rumor about another console?

It happens mostly when the rumor starts from a source that isn't credible so people start talking about what is possible. To be honest the series could go to DS and I think everyone would jump on board pretty well, I mean Dragon Quest went NES, SNES, PS1, PS2 and then DS (wait wtf where did this come from!) and now things are pretty much where it makes the most sense the series should go there be it handheld or system anything is possible. And now DQX is going to be Wii. Wii just gets fit with the niche JRPG system title while DS is really the better fit.
A lot of it comes from stylish non intense graphics are a fit for the Wii, while you could keep that and put it on PS3, lots of games don't get much attention if it doesn't turn heads and thus how the industry is starting to try to cannibalize itself. Which all adds up to this people/developers see it as they NEED to look good to compete with other games, this may not be true, nor should it, but it's the stereotype, and the funny thing about stereotypes is they are often true.
