"Persona 2 (ペルソナ2 Perusona 2) is a two-part series of Japanese console role-playing games for the Sony PlayStation, developed by Atlus. Innocent Sin (罪 Tsumi) and Eternal Punishment (罰 Batsu) are two chapters of the same storyline. Atlus did not localize Innocent Sin for release outside of Japan.[1] The duology is a direct sequel to Revelations: Persona, with several characters from that title playing various roles, both minor and major, in both games."

If I have my facts straight....wasn't the second one actually a travel back in time because the main character from the first fucked something up. I believe the game was more so a retelling of the first with some twists and turns due to the girl needing to take over where the boy failed. I actually did not play the game so I am not sure. One version I know was banned from US due to some "Homoerotic" situation in the game.

| Publication | Score |
|---|---|
| IGN | 8.2 of 10[8] |
| GameSpot | 8.5 of 10[1] |
| MobyGames | 3.7 out of 5[17] |

| Metacritic | 83 out of 100[20] |
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment received a 8.2/10 from IGN.[8]
Although there were reportedly efforts to import the first chapter of Persona 2, Innocent Sin's graphic subject matter may have inhibited its ability to be localized for foreign markets.[21] Examples of this include the resurrection of Adolf Hitler, as well as the option of a homosexual relationship between the protagonist and another male character.[22] On October 15 2008 an english translation patch for Persona 2: Innocent Sin was released by a translation team led by Gemini[23]. The team had been working on translating the game from a Japanese ISO. Apparently after being asked about the topic at a 2008 Anime Expo Atlus seemed aware of the fan translation when it was about 87% complete but allowed the team to continue.

Yup. There's a fan-made patch that makes the game completely in English though, so no one can miss it if he wants to play it

for some reason I cannot get my version of P2:EP to run on my PSP. I dont like playing PS1 games on PC :(

You are wise behind your years Torillian. I don't see why they'd announce a series that's way more popular in Japan in the US gaming convention. Unless Sony are trying to make 2009 the year of the RPG for them...I dunno. They seem to have a lot of RPG's in the making/preparing to cross to the U.S. but I don't think E3 would be the right place for the announcement since Persona is way bigger in Japan in the first place. |
Persona 3 sold about the same... I don't think it's "WAY" more popular.
Though 4 opened it up a bit.
