Forums - Gaming - What is the point of making games/parts of games so hard even on easy?

COD - WaW is a bitch on Veteran! It freaking rains grenades on your feet. There were a few times that I threw back 5 grenades in a row and died because of another 3 in my feet. O_o

What a badly designed game.

Because it makes you sound more like a baby when you complain about not being able to beat easy.

And because you're too much of a wuss to take on Satan by yourself.  *Arthur spits in your eye*

I don't know. When I put a game on "easy", I think that it should be you know....easy. Otherwise, what's the point? Sometimes, I just want to play for enjoyment. Actually I only want to play for enjoyment. Maybe I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do love gaming and I don't get this huge rush for beating a hard part of a game like I did when I was a kid.

I get though a hard part and think I'm glad that's over. I don't need a game to continually kick my ass. I like a game to be challenging sometimes but playing the same boss or part of a game over and over again is something I'll pass on.

I second this entire post.  I do enjoy overcoming challenges, but if I want competitive and challenging gameplay I will go play online against another person where the sense of reward is far higher.  When I'm playing a single player game, I just want a fun and smooth experience, not getting my ass kicked repeatedly or having to figure out how to get from checkpoint to checkpoint through some insanely drawn out process of elimination.

I would by no means call myself a hardcore gamer these days but i can't remember too many games that i ever found hard on easy mode. I nearly always go for normal mode except for sequels to games that i have already played, where i tend to go for the harder option.

My point is not to say i'm better at gamer than you put to point out that people have a wide range of gaming skills and it's hard for developers to nail down a level of difficulty which is suitable for everyone. Furthermore with certain games it's probably hard to dumb down the the game to a level where it is easy enough for everyone to play without difficulty while still staying true to the core mechanics of the game.
