I think the Wii has demonstrated competently the strengths and the weaknesses of motion controls in gaming. More importantly it has produced a pronounced schism. Both Microsoft and Sony are courting far more sophisticated markets. Yes I said it, and you can rant all you like, but the high end consoles cater to high end gamers.

While it might be glamorous to go for a large segment of the population that is enamored with waggle. The reality is that these consoles have already developed a dedicated following it is risky to abandon or alienate them in favor of a demographic that you have no certainty of obtaining. That is a fools errand. Nintendo could afford to go after such a demographic, because they had little to no demographic to call their own.

Microsoft has the demographic it wants that would be big spenders. Which are happy to pay for their premium service which is what they are actually selling. That is their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Sony has a huge stable of studios built around core gaming, and a plan to be a all in one box.

Honestly Microsoft and Sony have little chance of steeling the Wii user base. Hell Nintendo has little chance of steeling the Wii user base to their own next console. The average Wii owner is obviously not a technology buff, not enamored with graphical or audio capabilities, and honestly not enthused about the next installment in their favorite series. They are not even interested in as others put it mature gaming. Let alone having a complex online experience.

Everyone is right about one thing it will be a battle to pry these owners off of their Wii consoles. It is all they want, and probably all they will ever need. Which begs the question what novelty can move them on, and move them forward. The answer is you really cannot make it any simpler to play games. That to me is the real question everyone should be asking. Has Nintendo written themselves into a corner. Can someone tell me where they can go from here?

Nice post. I've never thought about it like this before.

Motion Sensing Controls can work great for SOME Game genres.

however 3rd parties THINKG THEY MUST ONLY USE THESE. They could use the classic controller nothing stopping them.

Stuff like Golf, Baseball, Cricket, Boxing could be alot of fun with motion controls. sword fighting etc..

Games that I found to work well also where Godfather, RE4, COD:WaW, Mario Kart,

STUFF THAT NEEDS TRADITIONAL CONTROLS:

fighting games like SSBB, MK and SF, madden, basketball, soccer. (yes I know soccer and madden have had some cool work done). but there should be a button hitting option too for these.

perhaps in the future those games that didn't work well with motion controls will get better.

Maybe some are upset rather at the games rather than the waggle.

Wii has good games.  That argument is pre-historic already. 50 million people agree with me ;)

They're just pissed of because its not they're console to have something new and fresh. That's the only reason.

Know why The Conduit pisses them so bad also? Because it has better graphics than some launch games on 360. And they thought the Wii couldn't pull out that :P

But let's keep the secret between us. I'm loving the whinning.

I know the Wii has good games, but just comparably to the PS3 and 360. The Wii doesn't have the amount of titles that appeal to that group.

And no, just no. Perfect Dark Zero looks terrible and still looks better than The Conduit.

Have fun: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=45902

People pointed maybe 15 PS360 games in that thread that look worse than The Conduit.

Go tell them all they're wrong.

I posted in that thread. The ones that we all agreed on was Vampire Rain. (not a launch title), Disgaea 3, and the three Atlus 360 SRPGs.

They agreed with more. Just read the thread.

This is a laughable thread, if you honestly think that Sony or Microsoft will introduce a motion sensing controller as their primary controller next gen, you are delusional.  (...)

This post is laughable, if you honestly think that Sony or Microsft will not introduce motion sensing controller as their primary controller next gent, you are desilusional.

They don't have motion sensing this gent and are getting their asses raped, just imagine in the next gen when the Wii shall have some 130+ million life time sales

You're reasoning is faulty. Wii simply has no worthy software being compiled.

You're post is faulty. It does have worthy software. Altough, you might not like it.

Just because you don't like don't say it is not worthy, 99% of the 360 library is pure shit to me. TO. ME.

got it? =)

You think that 99 percent of 360 gaming is shit means that you are not a gamer... so your opinion automaticly doesn't matter

If you say my opinion automatically doesn't matter, your opinion automatically doesn't matter.

Yes. It will be optional controllers in some games. Just like the Wii and the Classic Controller compatible games. (They will rip off all the Nintendo ideas, don't worry)

Ohh he's out :/

Won't be here to see the pownage
