Forums - PC - Have you tried Firefox 3.5 Beta 4?

No, I hate using beta's as they are more likely to be buggy and crash. Firefox crashes enough in released state (hangs on close), why would I want something potentially worse.

Ure right, the beta was very buggy and crashed a few times for me

I had to uninstall it.

I haven't had a problem with a beta beyond losing access to one of my add-ons (Gmail Manager).  No crashes or other strange activities.

I didn't even realize the beta was out... it can be downloaded here:

Neither did I until I saw this.  Just installed it.

Firefox has always had problems on my PC, both running XP and Vista. When 3.0 first came out it would just randomly crash all the time and force close. Now it doesn't do that any more, but since 3.0.8 and on it freezes after you close it. When you try to start another instance it looks like it is working, but then you get no web access until you kill the process.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Fo me its been IE at work that has been crashing all the time.    Though in fairness maybe I will have better luck with version 8.0.

I still use Firefox, but I see no reason to go to a potentially less stable version. And to be fair IE7 had issues the first time I installed it.

Objectively speaking, if your Firefox crashes all the time and mine does not, that implies there is something different between your computer setup and mine.  You might want to look for the cause instead of working around the symptom.

the most annoying problem I have with these major FF updates and the Betas in particular is that most of my most useful add-ins stop working

I've been using Google Chrome for quite a few months now. Firefox started getting on my nerves.
