Forums - Sony - Will the PS3 sink below 100k worldwide?

So you'd rather they lose even more money, potentially risking Bankrupcy than "forfiet" the fortress?

Nintendo forfietted their fortress 2wice and lived to talk about it, why is it impossible for Sony to do the same?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

It probably will, however it won't matter much. After all, it's not that much behind 360. The situation isn't good but that doesn't mean it's bad either; there's this grey area.

I'd rather nothing. I simply pointed out their dilemma. As long as they stay in the game and keep me entertained it doesn't really matter a whole lot to me.

IMO they keeping as they are increases longevity rather than lowering the price.

you do realize that nintendo was always selling at a profit though.  is sony yet?  or are they still just sitting at price and wiating to start making profit at each sale.

looking at nintendo isnt' it only ONE year in the entire gaming time that Sony ever made more profit than them, like 2003 or something.  Otherwise nintnedo always was on top.  so their fortress are a llttle different

how often do people use the "Sony is bleeding cash" line here on this site? If that's the case, surely lowering prices won't help matters on the long run...right?

We'll have to see after Japan goes through Golden Week. Japan for the PS3 has been the main thing keeping it up as of late as E/O and America continue to falter. Well they are faltering for all consoles but still. It might fall below it a few times though but I'm not sure as a long run thing.

I think it'll go below next week

At this point, no one can question the need for a pricecut. A solid one. Either they lose more money on each console or they give away the last remnants of their formerly great videogame fortess to the competition.

But at this point they can safely wait for next Autumn to do it, in the meantime there would be a lot of slow weeks anyway.

With the global economy worsening and the PS3's post FFXIII demo sales winding down, is it possible the console will sink back below 100k sales per week worldwide?

yes it will happen dont worry holiday sales will make up for it

If it did, would that be the point at which Sony would have to consider a price drop regardless of financial consequence?

there will be a price drop this year regardless and the date it will happen will not change b/c sales are low

Or would they simply ride out the next season or two accepting that they have a barely moving flagship console and attempt to cut price in the holiday season?

there are rumors that EU will go to 300 euro around E3
