no price cut until the end of fall
there is reasons to drop the price BUT there is 1 reason to not drop it : it is just not worth the value !!!
sales under 100k are a strong possibility ...
(and also a non event )

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
Even if it does, sales will be lower for all consoles, so the PS3 will still be reasonably close to the 360. No need for Sony to panic.
| --OkeyDokey-- said: Well, Golden Week is coming up in Japan (30-40k?) and I don't think it can go much lower in America and Europe, so no. Not in the next few weeks at least. All consoles are pretty bad. 360 is barely doing any better than the PS3 and Wii is at its worst in... well, ever. |
Golden Week is not enough to double the PS3 sales, not unless I am missing a big release for it.
Check out last year (Valkyria Chronicles released the week prior, so that will have stopped it getting as big a percentage boost, but 30k is a the maximum I can see it reaching, same for Wii I expect too)

knee-jerk reaction to lower the price? Nah, but hey, E3 might please the "Sony needs to lower the price" Brigade
Most probably. We are at 111k right now and all platforms have been slowly dropping over the last 2 months. Add to that no huge releases until at least July and I see no reason why it won't drop below 100k for at least one week and possibly a couple. I don't expect long periods of sub 100k, but I do think we'll see a few.

Sony have stayed rigid on the pricecut front, i think it will take the release of GT5 to make them cut the price (and offer a killer bundle)

I don't think that weekly sales will drop enough to force a price cut, nor that Sony are going to take any kind of knee jerk reactions in any case.
The console is where it is, the SW sales are growing and there are good titles coming up - Sony will sit tight for a while yet I suspect and trust a mix of titles like inFamous plus the usual decent multiplatform releases to keep things stable until they choose to price cut.
I do find it hard to imagine they won't cut the price before the end of 2009 though. NA is desperate for a cut with Others needing one too. Ironically it looks like they could do okay at current price in Japan so long as they get titles out.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
At this point, no one can question the need for a pricecut. A solid one. Either they lose more money on each console or they give away the last remnants of their formerly great videogame fortess to the competition.
