Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft loses $690M in anti-trust fine

Serves them right. It's the debacle surrounding WMP for those who don't know. Monopoly serves only the monopolizers, and not the consumers at all, and it should be fined and beat down in infancy!

Lets see...

Sony used magicgate technology and basically killed the unlicensed third party memory card market at the time (funny how I don't remember the EU trying to force Sony to hand over the code to it to those memory card makers) and I don't remember anyone bashing Sony because of it.

Nintendo actively targeted a piece of third party software that allowed people to circumvent regional coding dispite the fact that it's legal to produce such software under international copyright laws (Australian law even has precedent showing it's legal) and I don't remember anyone here bashing Nintendo because of it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not calling Microsoft innocent but I find it funny that some people are so quick to bash them just because they're Microsoft. It's also funny that I don't remember the EU complaining or taking AOL to court when AOL had the dominant messenger client and actively targeted and locked out Microsoft messenger among others in order to keep it's dominance.

Anyways I'm sure some people will be happy when they're able to get Microsoft to strip things away and make it harder for novice computer users or ones without an internet connection to enjoy media files on their PC.  Good work EU!

I dont think the european law are related to fanboism anti-microsoft ...
I dont know a lot about these stories and I dont think it will affect Microsoft.

Time to Work !

I bet that Sony is pretty happy about this.

Yeah, well, Sony and Nintendo aren't giant monopolys, either. Somebody needs to smack the hell out of Bill Gates. He personally has what, 50 billion dollars? He needs to make more SO BADLY that he needs to pull this crap...greedy SOB. And mind you my opinion of Bill Gates has not changed since about 3 years before I had any inkling that Xbox was going to come out. I more dislike MS and by proxy the Xbox and the 360, no so much the other way around.

Actually, Legend 11 when you install Vista you can choose to install either the normal version (which includes wmp) or a different version (which doesn't include wmp), not really making it mnore difficult for people.

Oh, and the way that you worded that post made it look like you were implying that the EU as being Sony fanboys.

Bill gates is the best person ever, he gives more to charity then the EU.

Edit: Post #300, THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAA

I just pointed out other examples of companies that stifled products on their platforms.

And to think I don't care about the PS3 because it has no games so far that really interest me (that haven't already been released months before on the 360 or are rooted on the PC in the case of UT3).  It's funny the reasons why people don't care for certain consoles.

Yeah, sorry if I sounded rude. I had a huge testicular pain at the time :)
