1. Adblock Plus

Like I said, I can't think of the word at the moment and I can't remember the particular site I started using IETab for.

I'm not talking about professionally done sites or sites made by a professional, I'm talking about sites you might use in the office like certain webmails and online task management systems.

For example, our university student class signup/management portal forced you to use IE for years. That is what originally got me hooked on IE Tab.

As for the download bar, I download hundreds of images/zips/boxarts each week for the game database here at VGChartz so it is extremely useful.

yeah. my college's system has tons of rendering problems, but it does run decently. And twesterm I know waht you are saying about the "professional" thing. I can't really think of a better way to describe it either.

OT:

1) Adblock Plus

2) Tab Mix plus (adds a loading bar to each tab header and lots of other cool options)

3) IE tab

4) foxytunes (lets you control an external media player from the browser window)

Question about NoScript...do I absolutely have to add in all the sites I allow to run scripts? Because I go to other sites all the time for searching stuff like pics. Doing that for every site would be kinda annoying.

yes, all you have to do is click the little button then say allow <website> for each one. Once you do it though you never have to do it again for that website unless you clicked temporary.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Sounds sorta like a hassle...like say you allow the site but it may have viruses and such anyway but you don't know it? Does it allow that or block it? And doesn't it block Java (my sister needs Java for RuneScape...)

Is Firekeeper good also?

Well, the idea is only to allow trusty sites. Besides, the code you wanna avoid is usually not on the main site but on other "side-sites". I always allow the main site (when it's trustworthy...that's 90% of the times) and only allow the other possibilites when I need them (usually to play some videos that don't play). For example, on a typical site, you see the main site and probably some ad sites in the noscript prompt, you tipically would only allow the main one

But since I have adblock plus can't I block all those scripts and ads anyway?

Well, yeah, but sometimes things go past Adblock, it's not perfect even though it's awesome. It always pays to have both Adblock and Noscript to be more safe

I'll go with
AdBlock Plus
IEtab
and Gmail Notifier

What is NetherWeb, I can't find anything on it and have never heard of it?

Eh...well I edited my previous post and said whenever I scan I get nothing. And so far there's been no hint of a possible virus. I think I'm good.

I also use ccleaner, Ad-Aware's browser sweep, and disk cleanup everyday.

Well, that's good. And if you use FF+ABP+Noscript it'll probably stay that way
