When the term "over-hyping" is combined with this forum, Killzone2 instantly springs out as the main competitor.

MGS4 did! I suggest you play it!

Been there, and done that, and didn't even get a t-shirt.  MGS4 is overhyped.  It is NOT the best game ever.  Worthy title on the PS3?  Yes.  But not all that.  Even if it went to the 360, it still wouldn't be all that.  Well, I guess if you like 20 minute long cutsceens used to conceal installing, then MGS4 is great.

And that last line is false.  They felt no need to hide the installs.  It basically says in big letters, "Installing!  Now go take a break.  You've been playing too long anyway, mother fucker!"  :P

It happened with several RPG games on the N64.

Ps3 is considered by many as "Shooterstation 3", if that's the case why was Killzone 2 considered "over hyped?"

By many where?  I have never heard that before today.

A couple years ago, terms like "FPSbox" and "Halobox" were commonplace descriptions for the 360 and its little brother.  In fact, after the PS3 came out, a lot of people were bragging that the PS3 "had more than shooters."  The PS3 hasn't even really been in the ballgame against the 360 for shooters until R2 and KZ2 came around.

I believe it is a mythical "many".  It is a many that a writer refers to, that can't be documented, but is used to try to make a point.

That's called marketing, that has nothing to do with hype.  Hype is just over excessive word of mouth.

First, I am of the belief that an aspect of the hype behind MGS4 is because it is a PS3 exclusive.  It is a title PS3 fanboys like to trumpet as "all that" (and a bag of chips) because it is on the PS3 alone.  So, to deal with that issue, I was saying that if it were on the 360, it wouldn't be "all that' either.  I was saying that, IF it were on the 360, my opinion WOULDN'T change with it.  That is what you bolded was saying.  And I did that, because the person was EMPHATIC that people PLAY MGS4 so they can KNOW (as if it is not up for debate) that it lived up to all the hype.

Anyhow, they would of been wise to hide installs behind the monster cutscenes.  So, if what I wrote is wrong, then edit the line above to be:

Well, I guess if you like 20 minute long cutsceens used to conceal installing IN ADDITION TO INSTALL SCREENS, then MGS4 is great.
