Here are the numbers for Forza 2 and GT5:P WRT to launch numbers, since twingo likes to use those for some reason.

Forza 2 - 3.98m total sales with the 360 at 10mil units at launch.
GT5:P - 3.01m total sales with the PS3 at between ~8mil and 12mil (depending on country it released in; 7.8mil @ Japan release, 11.3mil at Others release and 11.7mil at America release).

Not sure what that proves, if anything, but there they are.

As a side note, GT5:P has only sold 0.65mil in America...ouch.

So according to you PS3 wont grow past 60m, lets use that 60 million as a starting point.

Using the often cited 120m PS2 sold, GTs sold 27m on PS2 = 22.5 attach rate.  So for arguments sale lets say 60 million PS3s so lets use same over all attach rate for PS3 = 13.5 million sold.  Even if you subtract the 3m GT5p the full game is over 10m.  Iam sure this can be very much arged both ways but it can potentially be used to gauge sales for GT5 give or take.

Why am i convinced it will, well it sold 22 million with lowest entry point being $400, price will come down sales will continuet user base willl grow. Its successor is not coming for a long ass time so its a pretty basic formula.

No, it just means I was in the thread and decided to post.  I don't know where you got this idea I know I'm wrong and everyone should only post in threads they're passionate about, but that's just not really right.  I was in the thread, I saw something I decided to make a quick comment on, and I'm still just checking the thread on and off because I happen to have the time today. 

Eventually I either just grow bored of it (which I already more or less am) or it will just fall off my active topics and I'll never give the thread a second thought (since I'm only clicking it because of the annoying orange-- I would actually love it if I could remove threads from my active threads bar).

Just shows Forza franchise has little to no affect on GT, Forza 2 failed to out sale a "demo" in Europe... ouch.

Even worse when you look at GT4 vs Forza, close to 10 to 1 in sales.  PS2 did not out sale the xbox 10 to 1.

Yup, but Forza also gained momentum between versions, GT has been slipping:

GT3 vs. GT4 = 5 million/33% less
GT4 vs. GT5:P = 7 million/70% less

Forza vs. Forza 2 = 3 million/300% more

The 2 previous generations had the first version of GT on the new system selling the best, let's hope that trend is broken with GT5: Fo' Real This Time.

I also fully expect Microsoft to dish out some hard marketing where as Sony will likely sh*t the bed as they seem to have done with marketing everything this generation. I think GT5 will sell more than Forza on name alone, but I don't think the gap will be as large as it has been previously.

Long story short, they were off by 5 million.

I don't care what the hell they do with Forza 3, but GT5 will rape it no matter how crappy it is. Not even a ghost of a chance that Forza will outsell it. As to which will be the better game, that's totally up in the air, but it won't matter sales-wise. For example, which is a better FPS: CoD4 or Halo 3? and which sold more? exactly.

Woah now. Why don't you count the slip from GT 3 -> GT4 Prologue?

GT has always gotten plenty marketing.  It deserves it just liek Halo cause its a huge seller fanboys like you foolishly expect Sony to give a title that is projected to do 1.5/2 million a HAlo like ad budget which is utterly ignorant.
