Forums - Gaming - PSP Go! - Good or bad name?

I'm sure most VGChartz users have now seen the rumored name of the PSP-2, "PSP Go!"

What are your thoughts on this - Good, Bad, Indifferent?

Personally, I would have thought PSP-2, or something completely different would have been a better route to take with this, as "PSP Go!" sounds like Engrish to me.  Of course, it could always be branded that in Japan, and given a different name in the West.

Now, keep in mind that a systems name can have absolutely no bearing on it's sales capabilities.  Who can forget the ridicule the Wii received when its name was released?

Stop getting so excited about a Kid Icarus remake... the original NES Icarus sucked.

Wait until we know what "PSP GO" will have before we slate its name.

Could have something to do with a feature of it.

The fact that the PSP Go! is likely an upgrade to the original PSP rather than a successor! I would imagine the PSP2 will come at a later date

PSP GO!!!! sounds more...catchy i guess,than just saying 4000,5000 ext..I like when anything has sur name..not just *insert title*1 2 3 4

@Squall: If they're actually pulling out UMD, how could it be considered an upgrade?  That'd really be a whole new system.  You certainly wouldn't be able to market it as an upgrade if this was the case.

They are pulling out the UMD but keeping the rest of the system (in terms of graphical and processing abilities the same, it would seem) hence this would be classed as an upgrade rather than a new system. Much like the DSi, they removed the GBA port and added more internal memory and cameras etc, but this is still in the style of the DS and still plays DS games!

The PSP Go! may remove the UMD aspect but the games are the same, you just need to download them now, which is an upgrade imo!

It's anew model not a new handheld altogether. It is a pretty good name. Better than PSP-4000 would be.

Looks pretty damn good on paper, pretty lame when said aloud.

its a horrible name. If they name it PSP go, they might as well name it "GO away and GO buy a nintendo handheld"
