Forums - Microsoft - Splinter Cell Conviction Set for this Holiday

I think it is pretty dumb for Ubisoft to release 2 stealth games in such a short time frame. I think AC will crush this game, sales wise.

I dont like the gameplay direction of conviction (it is like AC in a bad way lol), but most probably they have change it, because since the release of MGS4 they have been "remaking" the game, or at least that is what the rumors said long time ago.

what is with the assasins creed will kill this shit?

AC sucked huge. splinter cell 1, was amazing, 2 was better, and 3 was the best non rpg of last gen on ANY system.

double agent had the coolest online to me this gen, and was an amazing game.

splinter cell has always been ten times better than mgs (stealth for children, with anime movies too!) and 100 times better than AC (the easy version of thief)

sorry guys many of you in this thread are retarted, SC 5 will be awesome. better than MGS and AC.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I haven't bothered to play DA's online games before I returned it, but I heard a lot of negative feedback from those who loved M vs. S from the past 2 games, as they felt that it really made it a lot easier to new fans, unlike the brutally hard, challenging, and suspenseful version in Pandora and Chaos.

And if you think that AC sucked (I never played Theif, but what do AC have anything in common with that game? I thought Theif was the original L/S game, and is kinda like Oblivion's stealth mechanics) why would you be happy about Convictions? They've made the Splinter Cell series into a social stealth game, exactly like the very game you thought "sucked huge"

So are there no Xbox fans who are upset at the death of an Xbox icon and mascot, along with the game that pushed the original Xbox? Are you guys really just that happy to get any exclusive? There's no going around it. The gameplay is completely different, there's nothing similar about it at all. This game isn't Splinter Cell =( I'm getting really depressed people, isn't there a single SC fan who's upset at this? Isn't anyone upset that Sam Fisher literally looks like a fucking emo now, instead of the dark bad ass he was?

I have had 3-4 posts saying the same exact thing, and the only conclusion I have is that either everyone here who posted never played the game or enjoyed it. How can you be excited for this game when you know it's not even going to be what it's name used to mean, but only a few old shitty ass clips?

The more pages you go back, the more negative it becomes. The forum is pretty empty now due to censorship, disgust, and lack of news/info.

Edit: By pages, I mean the entire forum's not the threads'.

I think using the word "death" is pushing it a bit, you don't know anything about this game to talk about it, for all we know the developers could have changed  it since the last time we saw it, hence the delay.

All I am saying is wait for the game to come out, and sam fisher is not an xbox icon or a mascot, that title belongs to master chief of halo, the splinter cell series just sold better on xbox because it had better graphics and online since the xbox was vastly superior to the ps2.

So no one is upset because sam fisher is alive and well, and the game is coming this fall exclusively for xbox 360, why would anyone be upset over that.

YAY! Gotta catch up on my Splinter Cell'ing

So it not coming to the Wii?

I hope they dont screw this up like they did DA most of the problems I had with DA was not going with the co-op like it was done in chaos theory. that and the god awful beginning of the game. I miss my fun and crazy co-op

I'm making my assumptions from the last reliable source we had, which is the footage we got a few years back. Like I said again, I HOPE they changed it back to the original gameplay, but I highly doubt it. Splinter Cell is considered, despite being multi-plat, an Xbox game. The trailer I showed for Chaos Theory even says (For Xbox) in the beginning. This game was the only thing that made me jealous when I had a PS2. The guy's eyes and googles are green for god's sake.

I'm not upset over it's exclusivity. I would have if I wanted Convictions. I'm upset at how either Ubisoft's management, or Ubisoft Montreal itself destroyed the core element of a game, which is the gameplay. Mario 64 can be considered a change within the Mario franchise, it's still a platformer and has some similar elements to the original while there's a shitload of differences and new content. Mario Kart is not a change, but a different game in its own right, and a good one at that.

I'm not denying that Convictions can gain a new following of fans, and that it's new gameplay may be great. I'm upset though is how Ubisoft is giving the original Splinter Cell fans, the people who built up the franchise name to attract new fans, the cold shoulder.

Here are the clips, again, to compare:

Chaos Theory Trailers:

More Holywood-ish One:

Gameplay:

DA Trailer (I hated the story and direction. I can forgive the really cliche death and reaction of Sarah [Sam lost countless of friends, killed his best friend in the last game, killed an unarmed woman in a matter of seconds when ordered, and crawled through a pile of dead corpses in his younger days], but the love relationship with Enrica was simply shallow, unnatural, etc. The plot felt way too Holywood... or a better word is less Tom Clancy-ish):

Convictions Gameplay

(One of the comments: this is NOT splinter cell. This is GTA with sam fisher)

It's not just gameplay too though =/ The story, characters, mood etc changed with DA before Convictions. Compare the DA trailer with the Chaos Theory trailers.

Please, go to the Convictions forum, and go a few pages back when the forum was more active, and there were still some fans posting.

Oh well you can do nothing about it, so either you play the game when it come out or you don't, end of discussion.

Well then don't ever say later that you were a fan of the original Splinter Cell on the original Xbox, because this game is NOT a Splinter Cell game.
