Wow. And IGN said Mario Galaxy could match the PS3/360 best efforts. The person who said must not have been in their right state of mind. The sad thing is that some fans actually beleived that load of bull.

No one from IGN said that...  They said that it keeps up with early PS3 and 360 games... not full blow graphical games.  I went back and relooked at the Mario Galaxy pics and they do look very nice and they do hold their own against these pics from Ratchet.  Albeit at a lower resolution and lower polygon count.  However... there are some nice effects in Galaxy that I don't see in this game...  namely bump mapping.  I'd even bet that some of the textures in Ratchet and Clank are as low res as the ones in Galaxy.

Most likely the IGN guys were more impressed by Galaxy's art direction... which really that's where this game falls flat again, the world is full of greys and browns...  Galaxy is bright and colorful.

I really don't see why Galaxy needed to be brought up in this thread though...  we were talking about Ratchet and Clank and not Galaxy.

It doesn't look as good as a Pixart movie, but the fact that people keep making this comparison is testament to how good it looks.

In my opinion, this is the best game so far this generation outside of Gears, UT III and maybe Call of Duty 4.

No, the fact that people keep making the comparison proves their ignorance.

As far as comparing this to Mario Galaxy goes, obviously this wins from a technical standpoint. IGN wasn't talking about technical prowess though... they were talking about artwork. From an artistic standpoint, that's a matter of opinion, but IGN wasn't the only site to express the idea that Mario Galaxy was visually stunning on the level of many PS3 and 360 games due to its art.

Looks very nice.

W/e. But Pixar>this. But some games PS3>Pixar.

this is just the E3 build... they still have to clean up the rest of the way.

Good. Everything looks beautiful and then BLAM! the ground looks like shit.

Alright guys... I just started looking at some old pics of Going Commando on the PS2... I think some of you guys forget how good that game looked. It has furr effects and bump mapping. This game got a bump in polygons and a higher res, a few more things on screen upgrade over Going Commando... it lacks the polish we should expect seeing that Going Commando supported some graphical effects that this game lacks.

Up Your Arsenal is the more recent game http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/655/655717/imgs_1.html

I wouldn't say Pixar-like, I have seen better graphics, but looks nifty anyway. Specially the third pic. I bet it will be very fun to play.

The third and fourth pictures are looking very nice, the others are not so great..

To be honest, i wouldn't have noticed the lack of bump-mapping if it wasn't pointed out in this thread, however, now that i saw that, i can't help but notice how flat everything is, not just the ground, but those stripped pipe things, and the walls of the building in the second pic

The guys who make ratchet are they the ones who made RFoM or did they make the jak series?
