Keep rolling, rolling, rolling: Katamari Forever debut trailer

With a bit of a title rename, we've got a new trailer for Namco Bandai's Katamari Forever on the PS3. This is the English localization of Japan's Katamari Damacy Tribute, and as previously discussed, it will be cel-shaded - err, full 1080p HD cel-shaded, rather! - but that's not all. As you'll find out in the trailer, the cel-shaded visual presentation is actually just one of many "tone filters" you can view the game in.

I don't think so. Could sell pretty good but it is also popular in the US.

Such a pity. How much effort did they spend on the pretty filters that could have gone into things that mattered, which had always been the hallmark of the Katamari series to date?

Another franchise falls to graphics-are-everything. This is a dark day.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. Its still Cel-Shaded...

I don't see how this is a discussion about graphics. The whole filters are mostly art style. It looks every bit the same as the PS2 version but HD.

Plus there still might be new details or levels we don't know about. Oh well.

I swear people have no sense sometimes. The 360 Katamari looks like the PS2 version.

The difference is the filters and maybe other bonuses that arnt known yet. Plus 1080P will make things look smoother. The trailer even the HD one can't show that in full detail.

For that case Noby-Noby-Boy isn't that much different. It is the art style. These games were never meant to be graphically amazing.
