Forums - Sales - Any idea on how Heavely Sword is doing in this first few days of sales?

My prediction 150k-180k. Lets not forget, game was released on 12 September and we will get updated on 17th Sep. So that is 5 days, less than i week. But still i think comments from basically every reviewing site that game is 6-7 hours long...it is going to hurt sales, many will rent it in US. Here in EU we cant rent games :(

I think alot, more of my psn friends have heavenly sword than they do warhawk, but its just 12 people.

I'm reminded of a front page story from the only newspaper in the college town I live in. The story stated that a study had found that 11% of the city's homeless were drug users and 22% were alcoholics. Buried deep in second page of the story was the fact that the homeless population consisted of nine individuals.

Instead of "11%" they should have just said "Bill the guy near the 5th Street gas station is a drug user"...

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

There's no reason it should be beneath 200k, and if it is, the game can be considered a dissapointment. Bioshock was able to get 700k and MP3 roughly 400k their first weeks, so I'd hope Heavenly sword would at least be able to meet MP3 standards. Didn't Lair almost sell 200k its first week?

Whoa whoa whoa.... Did you just say that Heavenly Sword is going to sell MP3 numbers? I definitely think this is quotable material. Thanks pal!

Just kiss the tip.

Region......Week1.....Week2.......Week3.......Week4.
NA.............200k.......180k..........140k..........115k.
EU/PAL......180k.......155k..........130k..........100k.
JPN.............30k.........25k............18k.............14k.(When it releases).
TOTAL........410k.......360k..........288k..........229k.

Total in Total over 4 weeks WW:1,287k
Without JPN because it releases later:1200k

Is that your serious estimate? I think everybody is overestimating a little bit here. I can see 150k in the first week here in NA, but definitely not the solidity on the weeks following like you are suggesting, especially since the game seems to be rental material. 6 hours is definitely rental material to me anywho.

Seriously... this thread is full of great quote material.

Just kiss the tip.

I expect something like lair unfortunaly

I saw something similar when doing a report on street youth in college for a sociology class ...

I read a study that talked about the epidemics of drug use, stds, prostitution and broken homes in the street youth population; these are issues for street youth but being that the sample size was 22 people in one neighbourhood in one city in North America the reality is that they couldn't (statistically) make the conclusions that they were making in the study.

Well in the UK, Super Paper Mario > Heavenly Sword

Does anyone know why they didn't use PS3 gameplay footage to advertise Heavenly Sword? If one of your big selling points is graphics, why not show them off?
