Why is the US the only country that ever gets any criticism for their actions while these Russian animals torture gleefully and receive little condemnation from the outside world for doing so?

That's over the top. Russia is completely pathetic when it comes to human rights but... it never has been. I mean from the Tsars to the commies, Russia has long been a powerful country built on people with weak rights....

By the way, the reason Russia pushed further into Georgia is to prevent Georgian incursions.. the same reason goaleys usually aren't right in front of the net but a little forward. The stories of Russians promoting rebels may/may not be true, don't take it for granted. The georgian army was shelling towns..killing civilians.... And the Russians, whatever their motives, and im sure they were self-interest, put a stop to the chaos fast.

Still, you turn on any news channel, and you don't hear criticism of the Russians for conducting medieval type torture on captives or of the chinese winning the gold medal in women's gymnastics with under age atheletes, but the US gives someone a bit too much water or humiliates prisoners just a bit by posing a female soldier with some prisoners in some dominatrix like poses, and all you hear from several other nations is the US is so evil.

You wanna know why? Because no other country poses as being so valiant. When have you ever heard Russia deride any torture or anything like that, or even give the pretense they are so equal? What about China? Now, think of how many times people in the US have acted high and mighty about these issues. Baically you all are hipocrites, either stop acting all high and mighty, or don't whine and bitch about it when YOUR own standard is applied to you by others.

Your profile says you're from the US, but you sound like some kind of Euro dude in your post.

Why don't we break there bones, or beat the hell out of them then?

Probably because healing from ie. a broken limb would be quite detrimental to the training process, and thus counter-productive. I'm guessing that the waterboarding used in military training is done under controlled circumstances, so the trainee won't break his limbs, drown accidentally or suffer any undesirable side effects.

And yeah, the reason US takes so much flak from its human rights violations is because it poses as the leader of the free world. Russia has never claimed to be anything of the sort.

Yeah he does, doesn't he? I think he's from Romania.

I agree with u texasrattlesnake. That's Euro mentality. For example here in Sweden no one ever bashes the Russians, u seldom hear much negative about Russia, but the USA is the big evil.

The US doesn't claim to be the leader of the free world.  After, World War II, the US was put in the position of having to be the leader of the free world.

It's funny you get all these Euro dudes come running on to criticize the US, then when any shit goes down, it is like US please come save us. When you people can save your own selves maybe you can have a reason to complain until then, quit being so hypocritical. The only reason you criticize US is because you know you can get away with whereas if you tried to criticize Russia, they would run an armada of tanks through your backyards.

russia wanted to stop the "chaos"?! almost no civilians had died due to the georgian offensive. the russians and their ossetian allies are another story though...including cluster bombing civilians. what i really like is all the nice video the reporters got of the drunk russian troops. the one where they open fire on the reporters has to be the best.

Well, you should better know what Russians truly are, having fought two wars against them.

Maybe cause I'm an EU citizen that lives in the US? I've lived 50/50 of my life in the EU and US, though I'm still an EU citizen. You asked for an explanation and you got it, what's it matter where I'm from. Facts don't change.

Well, we've got a saying here in the States that maybe you haven't heard yet, but it goes a little something like this.  The US, learn to love it or get the f***! out.

Then you wonder why people hate America.... Can't even take criticisms, sad.
