LOL...this page is flooded with fanboys.
| CMoney said: @bmaker - actually the xbox 360 has MORE QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF GAMES than ps3. XBOX 360 HAS 137 games rated above 80 on metacritic. PS3 ONLY HAS 93. Your lose in both the quality AND quantity comparisson. Sorry, but those are the facts :) |
Haha wow, glad he got banned for flaming. Any who, i'm sure this has been said before but not in as much detail, the only reason why the xbox360 has more games rated over 80 is that it came out a year before the ps3 in america and japan and a year and a half in europe. As each year goes by the ps3 is catching up to the xbox360 in the total number of games rated over 80 and soon it will over take it.
Just in the time that has passed since the original post was made the numbers have already changed to xbox360 138 and ps3 97. That's a gain of only 1 to the 360 and 4 to the ps3. Also that total number includes arcade games, if you only count retail games the totals are much closer:
xbox360 - 109
ps3 - 80
That's a difference of 29 instead of 41. In 2009 so far the 360 has had 9 games rated over 80 where as the ps3 has had 11. The bottom line is both consoles have very good games, for now the 360 is ahead due to it's earlier launch but by the end of the generation the ps3 will be ahead in terms of quality games.
I don't think a single game could really match a Halo expansion in terms of sales. But I think in terms of quality, Sony has not only a plenty, but a variety, of games to match it this holiday, which I personally think will appeal to more non-owners of the PS3 and push hardware, rather than a expansion for an already popular game for current owners of the console.
Wow that was a long sentence O.o

Okay, even assuming that GT5 doesn't make this holiday season:
Halo 3 ODST: 6 million
(Maybe) Alan Wake: 2.5 million
Total: 8.5 million
vs.
MAG: 3.5 million
Uncharted 2: 3 million
A Crack In Time: 2 million
inFamous: 1.5 million
Heavy Rain: 700k
White Knight Chronicles: ???
Demon's Souls: ???
Total: 10.7 million + ??? x 2.
I think uncharted 2 will sell a lot more than 3 million

I was putting conservative estimates for the PS3 games on purpose.
Except maybe MAG...that's pretty generous.

Wooooohooo that is biased
....
Your calculations dont take into account what the PS3 needs to catch up from the last 2 years.
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Say what you will about PS3 fanboys overhyping, but I bet you've heard of every game on that PS3 list, while I am probably missing several on the 360 list.
Enlighten me.
And what do you mean, "catch up from the last 2 years"? I never said the PS3 would outsell the 360 this holiday season in hardware or software, I'm just pointing out that comparing Halo ODST to a single game is pointless, because unlike last year, quantity is in Sony's favour in holiday 2009.
