Forums - Nintendo - Face it! Nintendo doesn’t sell the Wii, they sell Wii Sports

http://www.itwire.com/content/view/24682/1092/

My favourite part:

If the consumer sat down and analysed the technical specifications of the console or took into account the quality of the broader software library, or other features such as the online experience, it would be hard to understand the decision to purchase a Wii over a competitor’s permutation.

So it is Wii Sports more than anything else that keeps the Wii bobbing at the top of the table.

sigh, here we go again.

So many people are in denial it's sickening.

Console sales being driven by software? Why does the article try to make that out as a bad thing?

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

People write these articles as though they have some insight into the industry that others lack. The irony is that it just serves to show how little they actually understand.

I love Wii Sports!

I thought the idea is always to use the game to sell your console... What's wrong for Nintendo to sell Wii Sports? Why would anyone actually buy a console without buying a game?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Wow i didn't realized about that!! (sarcasm)

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

So basically games that get people to buy a console are a bad thing? What are people supposed to look for, which console they think looks the best? And if anyone thinks Nintendo is selling Wii Sports and not the Wii, play Super Mario Galaxy.

If wii sport doesn't come with wiimote, this is just a ps level game! So the key point is wiimote!

I love it how a strong 'FACE IT' before a statement makes me wholehearted agree.
