hmm can't think of any time i've cried because of a game, although I've never cried at a movie either - I just don't get that emotionally invested that quickly

for reference I've never cried at a funeral either...

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

never cried during any scene in "lost odyssey" , but the dreams and the overall cutscenes did choke me up a few times, its the best story in a rpg i've ever seen.

The problem is that a lot of developers attempt to make these emotionless, unstoppable characters. And then, without any attempt at subtlety, they try to make them emotional.

*Slight Spoilers*

Before that scene, Kaim was just another cliched emotionless protagonist (I'm surprised more people don't criticize this). Then, all of a sudden you see some emotion. Could Mistwalker have been a bit more subtle? Imagine if Kratos suddenly started crying in an emotional scene of God of War 3. Most people would probably find it unnatural, and I don't think it's any different for these other characters.

*Spoilers as well*

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. I thought the scene and flashbacks of his memories were clear evidence that he was gaining his memories of his past and emotions back. He keep having those dreams and they do affect him, without him knowing why, as you see everytime he wakes up. He doesn't want to remember those because while he's not sure it's his memories or just dreams, they're painful to him. Even other characters point it out.

He comes to understand his dreams, when he sees the flowers but when he sees Lirum and remembers that she's his daughter, after thinking she was dead, for so many years...It's kind of normal that he got emotional. The fact that she dies after such a short reunion... Well that just ads up to this.

Well you have your opinion but that's what I got from the game and Kaim... He seems cold from a perspective but many things point out that he has emotions. And I personally think that scene was very well made, maybe a bit of a stretch, but still very good.

I actually cried a bit..... now dont give me any stick or call me names.... It's emotional I tell you... I dont know if its becasue I am a parent or what but that scene where Lirium dies was very sad.

u need to play FF7. Crisis core and kh T_T.

Lost Odyssey was probably the first RPG I've played in a long that that I didn't want to finish and actually did not finish. I understand it seems that the general userbase seems to like/enjoy this game, but for some reason or another the battle system/load times/story all seemed to annoy and bother me to the point that I couldn't bother with it anymore.

I don't like the Lakers either.
