Forums - Sales - Woldwide YTD YOY comparison 2007, 2008, 2009

With no Brawl and no Mario Kart, the Wii's starting to slide back YoY. Pretty impressive to keep pace with no big software to drive sales, though.

wii is a monster.
impressive numbers for 360.
ps3 numbers are "OK" at best.

Wii is sliding but it is fighting against the 65% drop in Japan YOY and huge releases during this time last year and is still up YOY so I would say that is pretty good.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

very good Charts

let's have some WoW and YoY

Good summary of YoY.

Looks to me like:

a) 360 steady pattern of growth in line with age of platform and its library/exclusives - I was expecting growth but not that much, but I believe price and economic situation has given it extra growth

b) Wii slowing but really, as a Wii owner I feel the rate of releases (that I'm interested in at any rate) has slowed. It still feels under-supported from third parties to me and much of its attraction remains around Wii Sports/Fit and the core older titles. There's plenty of shovelware and mini-games mind you, more's the pity.

c) PS3 - what a strange console this has been so far. Big launch, particularly in Others, then huge drop due to lack of titles/price, then a good rise, then hit hard by the economy making it's price look massive again vs the library. Overall it's still holding relatively steady vs it's launch, but brand and loyalty can only get you so far. I think it has enough games coming, but without even a modest price cut it just seems too expensive IMHO (not for me... hell that didn't sound right! I mean for the average consumer it must seem expensive next to 360/Wii particularly currently in most regions)

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

This is great stuff kowenicki, and there's nothing like hard numbers to illustrate the point of where things are on the console map...Wii is king, and even a drop YoY is still nothing, since it's got such a massive lead. 360 is pulling away, but still not totally cleared for 2nd place this gen...good stuff.

Once again, great job Kowenicki!

As for the whole WW sales... I'm on my way to the library! Huzzah!

Great work!
