Oh and can we stop with all the Wii doomned threads now please...
Just shows how unrepresentative and Japan really is. |
I see three main issues for PS3 in US:
1) price - US is always price sensitive and right now more so than since video games first hit the market probably
2) Wii - Nintendo have seriously come back and grabbed the more general public console purchasers
3) Live - 360 has a very extended community now in US via Live which focuses buyers on getting what they know their friends have to play with them and encourages the 360 to be chosen for HD shooters/online (I know it sells other stuff like ME, etc. but look at Live charts, its Halo, Gears, CoD4 online that drives the Live community big time and it's Live that really makes 360 a favourite choice in US IMHO)
Japanese comment seems unnecessary to me - it was Japan that put PS3 ahead WW this week so it's hardly marginal even with the big drop in sales overall if it can still tip the scales when the game (demo?) is right.
All markets this gen have, at various times, looked terribly unrepresentative - probably because compared to last gen when PS2 was clearly dominant everywhere this time things are a bit more... diverse? Exciting? Competitive! That's it.
I wouldn't call the US or Others representative either - there is simply no clear consensus pattern across all territories to call representative IHMO. DS is the only fairly consistent platform. Wii was too until it started dropping hard in Japan I guess.
