The Wii's freakish 150-200k per week streak finally ran out of steam. It'll probably limp along slightly above 100k until June, when WM+ and a blitz of software releases should give it a surge.

^Yes, and it's a whole 3 weeks between now and the release of Punch Out Wii.

Nowhere to hide from the truth here... PS3 on its arse in the States.

Oh and can we stop with all the Wii doomned threads now please...

Just shows how unrepresentative and Japan really is.

I see three main issues for PS3 in US:

1) price - US is always price sensitive and right now more so than since video games first hit the market probably

2) Wii - Nintendo have seriously come back and grabbed the more general public console purchasers

3) Live - 360 has a very extended community now in US via Live which focuses buyers on getting what they know their friends have to play with them and encourages the 360 to be chosen for HD shooters/online (I know it sells other stuff like ME, etc. but look at Live charts, its Halo, Gears, CoD4 online that drives the Live community big time and it's Live that really makes 360 a favourite choice in US IMHO)

Japanese comment seems unnecessary to me - it was Japan that put PS3 ahead WW this week so it's hardly marginal even with the big drop in sales overall if it can still tip the scales when the game (demo?) is right.

All markets this gen have, at various times, looked terribly unrepresentative - probably because compared to last gen when PS2 was clearly dominant everywhere this time things are a bit more... diverse?  Exciting?  Competitive!  That's it.

I wouldn't call the US or Others representative either - there is simply no clear consensus pattern across all territories to call representative IHMO.  DS is the only fairly consistent platform.  Wii was too until it started dropping hard in Japan I guess.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Very solid week for 360 in Others and NA...I'm wondering how the new elite bundles will do when released!

Punch Out!! will be awesome, but I don't think it's going to sell hardware. It'll just keep the Wii coasting along until June, which will be a freakin' insane month.

^But still, was there any marketing campaign for that game in the States? Probably this could be one of those "bridge games".

There's no denying that WSR will be the next explosive game though. I'm off for now. Brb.

@reasonable...

I dont agree. Japan IS unrepresentative. The much larger markets of the US and Others are much more in line with the worldwide trend. Japan is utterly different than the global market and to say it isnt is kind of ridiculous.

Anyone who's been to Japan over the last ten year would know this...Ipod aren't huge there, and they usually have all kinda of devices you'd fine nowhere else...perfect example was the PSP...when it was blowing up in Japan, it was muted elsewhere...now, it's is....

Wii is doomed in Japan !

Anyway, pretty low PS3 numbers in the West. Only the incredible Japan numbers redeemed it.

Shit, the DS sold literally 10 times more than the PSP. That's just sad.
