That's a myth. I heard that myth told many times by Arabs and anti-semites because they want to degrade the original Jewish heritage.

And Palestinians being descendants to the Philistines is just a pathetic claim. Sorry, but the Jews came to Palestine long before the Arabs. Israel belongs to the Jews.

im just intrested to hear the reasoning to that statement please

edit: why does any nation belong to any one group of people?

They have historical rights to the territory being the first (still living) people to have conquered the area and established a nation there. Plus Israel was founded as a Jewish nation, a home and safe haven for all the Jews in the world, and it's been acknowledged and recognized by the UN.

yeah, i thought so...

that is the dumbest argument you can make on this, because i can use the same argument to say that the USA must by rights belong to what few native americans are still alive, you see, its a stupid argument to make, thats why i wanted to check.

I wouldnt call what slimebeast is using as logic.  He reaches a conclusion by emotion, then he struggles to make a argument for the emotional conclusion he already made.

This scientific study should settle our debate.

Jews are the genetic brothers of Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese, and they all share a common genetic lineage that stretches back thousands of years.   Jewish men shared a common set of genetic signatures with non-Jews from the Middle East, including Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese, and these signatures diverged significantly from non-Jewish men outside of this region.

Absolutely true and I agree 100% that Jews and Arabs are brothers. However, nowhere in that report is there any discussion about biblical people of Philistine. That group was greek and would be part of the "non-Jewish men outside of this region".

I'm not saying that that biblical group just disappeard, they did assimilate into the many various Jews/Arabs/Persians/Egyptians/Romans/Syrians/etc/etc around them. But, the Palestinians of today are not by any means mostly direct ancestors to that biblical group.

yeah, slimebeasts post is simply a religious belief with no real foundation. In fact Muslims, including myself, would argue that the biblical story is somewhat fudged and the true first born of Abraham was Ishmael (i.e. father of Arabs). Muslims contest that the land was given to Abraham, not Isaac and therefore under the religious sense it is for both Jews and Arabs.

"israel" belongs to palestinians. if i was a palestinian, i would of been right along the "terrorists" fighting for the land stolen from me.

And here I was, coming into this thread thinking it would be a joke thread like:

"If I were a Palestinian... I'd have Tacos-for-Dininian"

Yeah, it's a crap joke, but I don't here anyone else coming up with anything any better.

what is the argument here again?

Explanation of sig:

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

originally it was about the article, i.e. that Palestinians would be better off asking for fully annexation into Israel and just waiting for the inevitable time when Arabs are the majority again in a few years and taking over via the democratic vote.

Ahhh...yeah that isn't going to happen anytime soon...especially seeing that the Palestinians believe they own the land but were pushed out of their homes w/o their approval b/c of the Jewish people and the Israelites believe they own the land b/c it was ordained by God Himself that they will own the land.

Yeah, it is like mixing water with oil...tech. you can do it, but for only a brief sec. And can you imagine the amount of fighting and racism that will continue if they live in the same country? You think it is crazy now, just imagine the potential chaos that will ensue....like mixing the 1800's US version of whites and blacks in the same neighborhood...

Yeah... the Palestinians wouldn't be better off.... most likely some right wing Israeli group would take matters into there own hands before anything happened... and it would be just awful.

Thats some funny logic.

The Egyptians conquered the area before the Jews, and then moved out.  So I guess that settles it, Israel is to become a part of Egypt.  I'm American, I better pack my bags and head back to England.  Oh crap, England was celtic before before the Anglo Saxons came, and since Celts are still around I guess I'd better move back to Germany.

This was exactly what I was thinking about, when I read through this thread.

But btt the situation is so f... up, that there's probably no solution at all.

Took some classes about this as well, my favorite, was "Jews in the Modern Muslimic World", giving a great overview over the situation from the start of Mohamed throughout the Ottoman Empire and so on. Basically it's us European's fault. European Jews (mainly French, English and German Jews) wanted to educate their "backwards" brothers and sisters and after some decades they were seen as foreigners by the Arabs. That's probably the simplified root you can give for this conflict.

The only option for a future without endless wars, is probably the one suggested by Theodor Herzl himself. But you really got to keep religious influence as little as possible and that's going to be a big problem. If you have some spare time read this book by him. It's a novel and it actually reads quite well.
