Forums - Sony Discussion - VGchartz's Demon's Souls thread

Hi.

Some question from a total noob :

- I am few hours into the game, and I don't understand some things :

- How to keep its souls before you die ? there's a guy in the nexus that serves as a hangar, but I don't know if he has the bank function

- Where can I found arrows ? it's damn expensive in the nexus, and I never found any on the corpses of ennemies.

- I am in boletarian palace, the only aera I can acess, and the rest of the palace seems too difficult, I've seen some message stating that some area where too hard, so I followed them. I manage not to be killed by a big dragoon that has the habit to burn a bridge, and there's no other place I seem I can go.

- How do I unlock other places ?

- How do I get back in my body ?

The game is a bit weird but I think it has potential. The only thing, is that with that permadeath thingy, I don't understand how my character can evolve.

Well then you can feel free to exploit the bug. Otherwise, do your best to kill the first maneater before the other reaches. I believe maneater is weak to fire, so as a magician I would firestorm his ass whilst circling the thing in the middle of the boss room. You would at least wittle him down to very low health. Wiki has some good strategies tho.

Im a magician with magic over 20 and intellegance at 19, and yet i dont know how to learn spells and magics. I only have fire toss and water magic

Hmm...magic stat isn't bad, but intelligence needs some help. Firestorm uses a lot of MP. You may have to try and finish some other stages, level up, get some demon souls like the Dragon God's soul, which is needed to get Firestorm, rescue Yuria, who gives you firestorm in exchange for the demon soul. I personally find stage 4 to be easy with flame toss and a good shield.

You can learn some spells from the guy on the right side of the nexus, the one who is asking you to free Sage Freke. If you save Sage Freke you can learn more spells too. And Yuria.

Who is that exactly, and where is he exaclty?

Ok umm, on the bottom floor. Kinda on the opposite side of stockpile thomas (the guy who stores your items) and the salesman dude, forgot his name. Not EXACTLY opposite though, just walk a little further. But seriously there isn't much NPCs in the nexus, you're pretty much certain to find him if you speak to everyone. If you think you've found him but nothing happens, speak to him again. But he only appears after you've beaten Phalanx, the first boss of the game, which I assume you did.

- You can't store your souls anywhere. However when you die and lose your souls, you can go back to the point where you died and reclaim it (it's the bloodstain with a blue hue on it). However, if you die on your way to reclaiming it (before you actually reclaim it) then it's lost forever.

- Well early game, the nexus is pretty much your best bet. For cheaper arrows you can check Graverobber Blige, found in stage 4 (shrine of storms). But by then you might be acquiring more souls than to even bother with him.

- You have to beat the first boss of the game (phalanx) and talk to the monumental in the nexus in order unlock the other stages. Pretty much right after you cross the bridge with the dragon, there's a lever for you to pull. It opens the huge gate which can be seen straight ahead of you, at the beginning of the stage. Here is where you'll find the first boss of the game.

- You can get back your body by defeating a boss, using item 'Stone of Ephemeral Eyes' (slightly rare item), or by defeating an invading black phantom.

You can still level up when in soul form so your character can still evolve. In your first playthrough, I'd say it's normal to spend most of the game in soul form. It's that hard. Be sure to use the Cling ring, which gives you more HP when in soul form.

Just had to toss out that i got my platinum for this game, its absolutely amazing, one of the best games I have played in years...........Demons Souls 2 please.....:)

o/ I beat the first boss, I am in my body again... not for long isn't it ?

Thanks for the cling ring advice ^^ I think I understand better the game now, it teaches not to be reckless... the hard way ^^

Should I keep upgrading my short spear or should I keep the necessary elements for something better?

And how do I kill the tower knight? Nah, don't tell me, I'll figure it out :P

Lol yea probably not for long, but like you said, if you don't be too reckless you can survive. Unfortunately on the first playthrough, you have to burn to learn.

I made a mistake in my last post with one part where I said you can defeat an invading phantom to regain your body. This is wrong. You have you invade someone's world as a black phantom and defeat them.

It depends on the upgrade path (sharp, moon etc) you plan to take, and your character class..

I'm a soldier I think. I use a spear and that fire resistance shield to poke at the enemies. Sometimes i cut them with a scimitar, or shoot at them with a bow. Are there clearly defined upgrade paths? I thought you just upgraded the stats you needed to use the weapons you wanted.
