FYI, I own a DS and a Wii as well as a PS3. I'm not bashing the Nintendo systems. There are a lot of hypocrites on this thread because you know damn well that if this were ANY high profile PS3 game that had its price slashed so quickly you guys would be all over it. I love how all of these supposed huge Nintendo fans have crawled out of the woodwork the last couple of years since the DS and the Wii have been popular. Where were you during the Gamecube and N64 years? I was there. I bought and enjoyed both. The bandwagon jumpers on this site should take a long walk off a short pier.

is it okay your grace if i went nes, snes, ps1, xbox, xbox360?

i also owned n64, ps2 and wii

My point is that there are an awful lot of people who are now willing to defend everything Nintendo does to the death, but didn't put their money where their mouth was during the hard times.  By owning a N64, you are not being hypocritical.

And there are an awful lot of people spending every waking moment on this forum making threads and replies willing to attack everything Nintendo does to the death. You lose the right to whine about people defending Nintendo when you're the one constantly attacking them and everything related to them. That's right, the majority of your posts are always railing against something remotely related to Nintendo.

I love how all of these supposed "former" Nintendo fans come crawling out of the woodwork in the face of the success of the DS and the Wii screaming and whining about how they've been abandoned and blah blah while spending most of the time talking about specific games on Wii/DS who's supposed scarcity led them to bail on Nintendo in the first place. We get it, you can't be against Nintendo and support efforts like CTW and expect to be taken seriously be anyone. Really, we do. How dare Take-Two give the DS a GTA game. Just...how dare they!

But really, a Best Buy sale? Not a press release, a MSRP drop, you know...something remotely credible? Just one store's temporary sale? OMG FLOPZZZZ!111 I guess it's a step up over the trolls that were clinging to first week sales (and have already disappeared into the shadows after humiliating themselves), but really this latest stunt just reeks of desperation.

I imagine as CTW starts to close in on the PSP GTA sales, arguments will shift to "compared to install base" or "developer expectations." Anything to move those goal posts!

I enjoy my Wii, but it is definitely my least favorite Nintendo console I've ever owned.  I liked it a lot at first, then the novelty wore off and I lost interest (I have many friends who lost interest as well), now I'm back to playing it once in awhile.  I'm very picky about what I buy for the Wii.  Mostly, I look for something that's different from what I can get on my PS3.  Things such as Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart and the forthcoming EA games with WM+ interest me, but I have no desire to own Wii Fit and have barely touched Wii Sports.  IMO, the Nintendo brand is moving away from me and I don't feel as if the console is really marketed towards me.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

Should have put it on the PSP. Probably would have sold 3+ million units of the course of a few years. Granted it could do the same on the DS in the long run...

It's just that simple.

No matter how good games such as GTA Chinatown Wars on the DS or Madworld, etc. are on the Wii, it often seems like the sales numbers end up being extremely low considering the size of the userbase.  This is an important lesson that IMO developers need to be aware of.  Simply looking at the number of consoles sold is not good enough justification to make certain games.  You have to know your audience.  No matter how good GTA on the DS is, it's the wrong audience.  This becomes a self perpetuating problem.  A developer puts out a "hardcore" game, it sells poorly and it reduces the likelihood of them putting out more "hardcore" games.  Therefore, the system has a hard time attracting "hardcore" gamers which is why the game sold poorly in the first place.

Such a highly reviewed game from a MAJOR franchise, should not be down to almost half price already.

Nintendo is a constant in life. Nintendo is the place where you can always go to have a great time, whether that is alone or together with friends. Nintendo made dozens of all time classics which are more than just amazing games. Nintendo is a gaming company. Nintendo raised our sorry asses better than a parent ever could. Nintendo is a religion. Nintendo is what drove gaming forward and what continues to drive gaming forward. Nintendo saved gaming in the '80s. Nintendo is saving gaming again right now.

Sounds like a series of excuses. Genesis wasn't "marketed towards me" (I in no way had any interest in "blast processing") but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.

Does it matter how any console is "marketed" when determining your personal playing habits. Core gamers are usually above being moved by mere marketing.

By that logic, no one should have bought the PS3 for the first few years, because it was being marketed to space aliens and horror movie fans.

I don't think that we, as intelligent consumers and fans of the industry, should be moved by the marketing of a game.

Reviews, sure, fun/quality, of course, intended audience, certainly...but not marketing. That's like saying the PS3 sucks because I don't like the commercials.

As for Nintendo themselves, they should have spaced out their 1st party games a little better. It would headed off the casual stigma to a point, if Brawl, for instance, were to be released tomorrow, or Galaxy. As it stands now, E3 08 had a very negative effect on the brand inside the entheusiast press, and therefore, most core gamers, who get their opinions straight from the pages of IGN, are also hoping for the console to fail.

Nintendo has always been the target of hate. Last gen they were the "kiddy" console, and this gen they are ruining gaming. Never ends. The DS is, in my opinion, the best console on the market this gen, if the software sells well or not(it does, btw, see top selling software), it(software) still exists, which isn't something I can claim for most of its competitors.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I find it interesting that "Store Pickup" is not available for this item.

I wonder if they never got to the stores -- and they are stuck at the warehouse or something.

Just a thought. But considering I can see that PopStar Wii with Two AirGs is available at the five Best Buy locations nearest me (and I might get it at $10 for my six-year-old son). But I cannot see if GTA: CTW for DS is available.

Also, remember, this is Best Buy. I have seen them discount a game the first week of its release, only to re-raise the price. And believe me, Neighborhood Games on the Wii was never worth the MSRP of $30.

In other words, slow initial sales are not the death knell for the game. And considering where NPD does and does not track, I still wonder about the accuracy of its numbers.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I bought CoD5 for the 360 just a few weeks after it came out - mainly because Best Buy had it on sale for $40. The game went on to sell over 5 million copies on the 360 alone.

I don't know if Chinatown Wars is selling below expectations or not, but I do know a game going on sale early doesn't prove anything.

DS Audience is made by new consumers and the people who were users of GBA, both type of consumers are uninterested in games like GTA.

One example is Payback for the iPhone and iPod Touch, it is a GTA Style game but it sold only 65.000 units, it seems that games like GTA will die with time since the new consumers don´t like them.

Meh. I and most of my friends didn't buy it because we thought it looked like crap.  Will probalby pick it up when I can find it for about $12 somewhere.  As for madworld, that games fun.  For about two hours.  Can't imagine theres a whole lotta people who would buy the game reguardless of the system it's on.  It's a rental.

I still cannot understand how every time a publisher comes out and says they are doing well, people just come out and say "THEY ARE LYING,LIARS!!!"

It is obvious the people involved with the actual game know a lot more than we do, but yet, people still call bluff.

But if it is a PS3/360 game..... "I knew it did great! PS3 FTW!!!"......
