To encourage signing up?

Yesterday when it hit 10k high score about 9k+ was guests! more that I think, maybe delaying the numbers for guests would encourage more people to sign up and become part of the community.

No. Delaying them for guests by a day or two might be an idea.

But not allowing them to be seen would cause site visits to plummet.

A lot of people are signed up... (I'm excluding Kirby007 alt accounts)
But they just don't post...

(Yeah!! I'm talking to you!! Lurker!!)

@ Nikkom, Kirbys alt accounts make up at least 1% of total accounts on this site xD

As a long time lurker and recent joiner-upper I wouldn't recommend doing anything. If I found out numbers were being delayed for lurkers while I was a lurker I'd probably have ditched the site and moved on.

I think having high visitor numbers is a testament to the quality of the site and the information it provides. People are preferentially coming here to find out what's up, it should be a source of pride for the people running the site and it should make the long time residents pleased. The reason to join up is to join in conversation, but if people are only interested in seeing the numbers and not particularly interested in connecting with folks then why should they be compelled to join?

At the end of the day it is the quality of the discourse which encourages lukers to become members.

No. I think we'd get less sign ups actually....

You'd also have to make the Sales Discussion User only because figures are posted their as soon as they hit aswel....

That would defeat the purpose of the site IMHO - at least as I understand Brett and The Source's stated intent for it.

To see past the top 50 or to sort (console, or publisher) on the weekly charts you must be a member. I think giving away the top 50 is great and that extra data is incentive to be a member.

We should make it so they can only see the top 10 or 20, that would be better.

It's perferct the way it is. I may have signed up to see past the top 50 (though I don't remmber quite well :P)
