Forums - Gaming - A small inconsistency in VGC's userbase.

In order of ownership of current generation consoles it's fairly well acknowledged that the demographics of this website are thus:

Nintendo Wii

BIG GAP

Playstation 3

BIG GAP

Xbox 360

I was just taking a glance through the old polls though, and I found an inconsistency.  Overwhelmingly in Western RPG's and to a lessor but still obvious extent in JRPG's, the Xbox 360 has the advantage over the other two consoles.  Yet VGChartz, with it's small number of Xbox 360 owners, professes to love Role Playing Games more than any other.

I know these polls aren't known for their accurate representation of the gaming public (or even this site sometimes), but what do you think accounts for this discrepency?  All I can really think of is Strategy RPG's.  As forum members are typically the hardcore type that might play those niche titles, that could help explain the PS3 ownership and subsequent RPG loving.  Still doesn't explain the Wii owners though.  I have a Wii for old-school Nintendo games.  Not RPG's.

Perhaps on the 22nd of February only Xbox 360 owners responded to the poll...

Its all of Megaman's alts.

I don't think Kirby would be sad enough to vote with his alts

You're right.

Either one of them could have swayed the results on their own lol

You should have voted for platformers guys.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

starcraft, I dont get it. Whats the discrepancy exactly, and what does it have to do with the X360?

Or rather, why do you think the discrepancy has anythingg to do with the X360?

The best RPG's this generation so far and for the forseeable future are on the Xbox 360.

Therefore given VGC's professed love of RPG's, you'd expect that the console would be anything BUT the least owned console on the website.

that seems like a bold statement.  The 360 has more RPG's that is definitely true, but best is probably debatable.

...

I think you're forgetting the DS, particularly for JRPGs.

PC is generally superior for WRPGs too, particularly MMOs.

That's where I get all my RPG action.

Ah, i c. Maybe a reputation takes it's time to earn. I think the X360 being the undisputable RPG king will pay off in the long run though, but maybe really not until the next gen.

Many RPG-lovers have already bought the PS3 betting it would give them a lot of RPGs, while the X360 was perceived as the second iteration of the Halo-box.

What's your theory?

I thought PS3 fans were the most abundant on this site?
