Forums - Microsoft - This is When the Halo Marketing Has Gone Too Far...

First the drinks and food products and whatnot and a million other things, but now this?????

http://www.xboxcircle.com/xbox360/2007/09/11/wal-mart-to-offer-halo-3-checkout-lanes/

Fucking insane.

Seriously, how much money is being spent on the Halo 3 publicity?

They're making it into the biggest thing ever, but it's not even close, I mean has anything else released gotten this treatment?

Going for those 5,000 posts I see.

Yep spiderman 3.

You'd think by this point they'd scale the marketing back just a smidge and maybe offset a bit more of Microsoft's games division's costs for once.

O-o That's just silly...

Well they obviously are of the opinion that they can sell to former non fans of the game and along with it the system itself.

The Halo fans are gonna buy it anyway, they need zero marketing. The 360 owners will buy them at a very high rate as well even if they aren't the big Halo fans so this is directed at people who aren't on board with the 360 or Halo.

Spiderman 3 had its own check out lines? Cause it just makes no sense to me at all for any product really...

So you think Microsoft actually spent money encouraging WalMart to have special checkout lanes? Somehow I'm thinking this is Wal-Mart's idea to attract away some of the business from the Midnight launches at the boutique stores...

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

They're devoting a marathon of that Discovery Channel show Futureweapons and theming the whole thing after Halo 3.

Next thing you know it, Wal-Mart stores will also add security guards next to those checkout lanes dressed up like space marines.
