MS throws money around and Sony develops their studios. We all know that by now. Does it matter to me? Not really, because in my opinion 360 still has the better games and more options.
It's just that simple.

Microsoft is doing the right thing their methods don't matter as long as there are efficient.
Well, I think the question is this. If Microsoft wins and Sony decides to pull out of the Western market or the US where they're doing horrible this gen, but manage to sell 10 million PS3s in Japan while the 360 sells less than two million before the end of the gen, do you still think we would be seeing so many great jrpgs, strategy rpgs, and other Japanese titles appearing in the US as there were in the two Sony dominated gens?
If they weren't competing with Sony, do you think the 360 would have courted Japanese types of games so aggressively?

I didn't know they had 6 studios. More than I expected, however..Sony has 17 if I'm counting right..I could name them if you like. Also..who's Spawnpoint Studios? I don't get that..if Bungie isn't doing it, I don't think it'll be done right, even though I was disappointed with Halo 3. |
Thats great, I have no problem with Sony owning studios as long as they make great games that I can play. Really this gen Sony can still be thankful for third party devs. Spawnpoint Studios are the new stand-in for Bungie since they went off on their own. The majority of Sonys hottest titles which are coming out or are already out such as Resistance, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, White Knight Chronicles, Flower, MGS4 and more are all 3rd party partners. Their only first party titles which have caught my attention are God of War, KZ2, Gran Turismo and Warhawk ...everything else still belongs to third party.
Microsofts first party consists of the Halo franchise, Fable franchise, Forza franchise, PGR franchise, Perfect Dark, Kameo and more. They may have less studios, but those have still pumped out a lot of first party games worth having on the console.
As I said...they should be neck and neck with first party titles. Devs don't count if they aren't pumping out quality.
MS are experts at taking someones elses product and cutting in line :)
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

So is Sony. Whats your point?
It's good for 360-only owners, they don't have to shell out $400 for DMC, GTA and FF. But as an owner of both consoles, it doesn't benefit me at all so I won't praise them for it.

ps1 anyone?
if they couldnt take anything from snes and genesis would there even be 20 games on it?
hypocritical
Check out the million seller list for both Sony published games and Microsoft published games. You'll see a much higher % of titles and also very close to the actual number of home run games they both released and this is comparing 3 systems for Sony to 2 for Microsoft.
If one had to guess randomly without knowing what the game/studio was for a game published by these respective companies, chances are the Microsoft title would be more likely to sell 5M+.
In terms of being able to publish big hits it seems:
Nintendo >>> Microsoft >> Sony.
Pretty good for interlopers in the gaming business.
