MHG did great first day numbers. Ignore the whining Sony fans - 92k first day is a great performance.

Killzone 2 did solid first day numbers too.

I'm a Sony fan but also a Nintendo fan.

@Darc Requiem

Hardware sales say otherwise. Nintendo has to pull the facts together, meaning to the rest of the world as well, because besides the Wii Resort there's nothing new being released from their side. Nice and all that the Wii is still selling, but the ones owning the darn thing, want games. Best games are still coming from 3rd party devs.

But I thought the Wii was DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED in Japan. I don't know whats funnier, the people that thought the was done. Or the people trying to argue that a trice ported game should sell as much as a new one.

Ehm, firstly, MHG is a doubly ported game (at best) but really it's only once ported (from PS2 to Wii).

Anyway, I see that the goal posts keep getting lowered with all these excuses.  Like I said weeks ago, MH on Wii was going to be seen as good sales either way.  It was A) going to sell good, or B) be excused because of pay for online (Which didn't hurt the PS2 monster hunters from selling better first week (See MH2)) or because it is a port. Oh well, I guess people will believe what they want to.

@ Stickball

It's not a port of a PSP game, it's a port of a PS2 game.  It just was ported for the most part (stuff was added) to the PSP, and this is a port of the PS2 version.

Well, there is Punchout (5/18), which will lead up to Wii Sports Resort. Sin & Punishment 2 was announced for a July release date but I have a feeling it got delayed somehow.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I mean Nintendo developed games, not published.

Monster Hunter G Wii is probably going to outperform the opening week of Monster Hunter (119K) and Monster Hunter G (128k week one) on PS2.

The PS2 base was 18m units when Monster Hunter G came out, the Wii base is 8m units when it came. For a four year old port on a base thats 4/9 the PS2 size its a very solid result.

@DmeisterJ: It's not about lowering goal posts. It's about having reasonable expectations.

For example the late PS3 ports of 360 games often sell worse than the 360 versions. Is this because the PS3 doesn't sell software well? No, it's because that's the nature of ports.

The closest analogy I can make is with Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3 (another port of a previously remade game), which most likely sold worse than its Xbox counterpart.

Nintendo developed? Boy....I guess that is Wii Sports Resort. But does it really matter if it is Nintendo developed? Punchout isn't any less important because it is Ninty published rather than developed.

Isn't there a Chibi Robo port coming? IDK, Nintendo relied on Animal C. and Wii Music too much. "Journalists" hated WM from the start and AC is more of the same, with minimal improvements. The Pikmin/Mario Sports/Metroid ports....just padded an empty lineup.

The main reason of MHG sold great is because of this

Monster Hunter classic controller which is come with special package !
