Why do some people here ignore the MH tri demo included in this release of MHG and just call it a "port of a remake" is beyond me. MH Tri demo is a big deal.

MHG is not just a port... it's a port of a remake. 92k day one is good.

No, MHG (Wii) is a port of a PS2 game (MHG) which was a expansion (of sorts) to Monster Hunter on the PS2.

Monster Hunter Freedom (PSP) is a port of MHG (PS2), but that has nothing to do with MHG on Wii.

Monster Hunter G (Wii) is a port of Monster Hunter G (PS2) and has no correlation with the PSP as it's the PS2 version.

Okay, so the best comparison for Wii first day and first week sales should be the PS2 version of MHG. Oh wait, that would make these sales look good, so you can't do that, right?

No, the best comparison wouldn't be that, because that came out when Monster Hunter was not a popular franchise. The true barometer really should be MHP2G because that's the most recent game, and the install bases are comprable, and the series is now popular.

I was being kind with the MHP1 comparison but that doens't fly because there are 4x the Wiis out now than PSPs when it launched.

There are also other criteria you didn't take into account, namely:

1- It's the first MH game on the Wii (whereas the PSP has had three to establish the franchise there).

2- MH2 is a sequel whereas this is a port.

I still dont see how can you be dissapointed with those sales, what numbers did you expect?

You were weren't being kind. You're being the exact sort of fanboy that you complain about on vgchartz. This is a short-term, cash in port released by Capcom to generate interest in MH3 for Wii. The fact that it sold almost half of the first day shipments should clue you in on Capcom's expectations. It didn't bomb, and it didn't break out.

If MH3 did this much opening day then you'd have every right to call it a bomb/disappointment/failure. Seriously, what number wouldn't have been a failure to you? 200,000? 300,000? No one, NO ONE was expecting those sorts of numbers from this.

Allow me to rephrase what DMeisterJ is saying... A port of an old game with pay-to-play should sell as much as a new game with free online.

Man, I don't which is worse...the people trying to make the sales of MHG look good or the ones who are trying to make it look bad.

Please people, read what I quoted. That is, if you can read it.

The MH Tri Demo is important to the overall sales of this game but it does only go for 10 minutes.  I Could imagine a lot of people bought it for the 10 minute demo but not just this demo... unlike the 60 minute demo for FFXIII which people would buy just for the demo...  But then again, who knows these Japanees, they do crazy things sometimes.

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!

" Monster Hunter G - 65,000

Monster Hunter G - 27,000"

So a total of 92.000? That's a very impressive amount for a port.
