Dang Badgenome, if I'd known that game existed it would have been the ONE game for sure!!!

OK so it seems there has been some misinterpretation of clues. HOWEVER someone has guessed correctly, and even though they went on to make different guesses I am duty bound to accept their correct guess. But true to American Idol form there will be a pregnant pause before I reveal the winner.

But first, how could I leave out platformers! I love platformers! The first ever game I played in the modern console era (i.e. on someone else's PS uno) was Crash Bandicoot. Oddworld was a personal fave (played both 1 and 2 on my bro's PS). If Abe had been the protagonist in the game that went to Xbox it could well have been the deciding game for me in that gen, unfortunately Munch didn't really resonate with me. I've owned played and finished Jak and Daxter 1, 2 & 3 likewise with Ratchet and Clank 1, 2 & 3.

Second to explain the clues:
- reference to sequels: possibly not the best clue as it ran the risk of steering people off course into thinking the game was a sequel to a previous gen game. The game is new IP this gen, however I think if I'd come out and said it was new IP it might have made things a bit too easy, I dunno. In hindsight this clue was probably more of a red herring than a useful bit of information. The person who guessed correctly probably ignored this clue to their benefit.

- the letters of the first word of the title: This was meant to tell you that the letters of the first word were all contained (and jumbled) within one single list entry, not through out the first 7 entries. So if my one game was Katamari (which it isn't) then all the letters for 'Katamari' can be found in the GoW3 line "GoW3? Ahh the hAcK and slAsh AdvenTuRe gAMe, these I lIke." You'll have to forgive me if I wrote the clue in a confusing way, it was around midnight at the time.

The line containing all the necessary letters is...

"Viva Piñata? I think I'd be laughed at if it really was this one"

The winner seems to have looked in a completely different and unintended direction for the clue. But because I didn't make any conditions on how one arrived at the correct guess, the means used for deciding on a particular guess is irrelevant.

I should think it is fairly obvious what my ONE game is now. And I have to say that the highly motivated and enthusiastic members of this site have contributed greatly to me developing a passion for this game. Given my penchant for underdogs my interest was first piqued when this game was given the "best game no one played" award in the VGChartz GOTY last year. I don't own the console yet and I haven't bought the game yet, but I will have both within a couple of months, I hope I can get the DLC where I am. I like anticipated gratification much more than instant gratification, I just wish I could get my kids to think that way.

So the winner should know who they are. I will go vacuum the house now and do some grocery shopping, and try to make things tidy enough for me not to get in trouble when the wife and kids return from their holidays tomorrow. This should give the winner time to post their victory post. Once I get back on line I'll formally confirm the winning guess.

Special mention goes to the person who identifies the origin of my name and avatar image (incl. the meaning of the acronym). Maybe you can suggest a headline that fits with the theme.

Oh right, this gen I've thrown my lot in with PS3 for the home console. But I have a PC so I figure Billy boy is doing all right out of me, and one of my son's has a DS, so Ninty is getting it's 1/4lb of flesh out of me too.

Argh.  I was thinking you might have a Sony TV or a Sony phone, and a PC, so you'd be going Nintendo.  And I thought it was fishy that you left Galaxy off the list, so I thought it was in the bag.  I think the DS makes it a trick question.

Well if you've got a PS3, does it have backwards compatibility?  If it does, you NEEEED Katamari.  That's the one game that makes me jealous of Sony.  I need it.  I love it.

And what's FSTP mean?  It can't be any of these.

Oddly enough I do have a Sony TV, but I wasn't thinking about that for this thread. True having a DS is a bit sneaky of me. I haven't got the PS3 yet, I'm hoping for a price cut before my buying deadline hits (birthday in July). It's not looking too hopeful. So the PS3 won't have BC because I don't want to buy a 2nd hand PS3 without a warranty and there are simply no BC PS3s available 2nd hand in the gaming retailers. In fact the only 2nd hand current gen consoles I ever see in the gaming retailers are Wii and 360. Plenty for sale on Trademe (our version of ebay) but they don't come with warranty.
