Forums - Nintendo - Wii streaming VoD service - Original Content only a positive or negative.

Just wondering what everyone thought, and I would like everyone to consider it a bit more deeply than "my favourite console has x, so I'll choose x'

Would you prefer it if Nintendo was choosing to offer mainstream tv and movies through their Video on Demand service, or if they offer Original Content?

I'll give my opinion soon

Animes with a lot of fighting.

There are so many that I've missed out on. Plus, maybe they can trick Tatsunoku into giving up a few licenses lol.

Well, even though movies and stuff would be cool, you have to remember that this is a FREE service. They would have to pay licensing costs for trademarked content, and that price would be passed on to the consumer.

It WOULD be cool if they offered their own well-known content in addition to their new stuff, though. The Pokemon movies, Mario Bros Super Show, Pokemon Anime, Captain N, etc.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

I don't mind original content if it's free. But unless they get some content deals with existing shows/movies they can count me out.

I know they're saying they're gonna bring this service to the west, but I highly doubt it.

From what I could see this(Wii no Ma) is extremely Japan focused. Even as far as programming goes, from the sample I saw it would be impossible to bring that stuff over(the original content does not seem to be Nintendo branded, so far it appears to be documentaries and cultural stuff). They'd basically have to create content specifically for Europe/US, and customize the "room" concept in big ways.

That's gonna take a lot of resources, and unless it becomes huge in Japan, I don't see it coming out of there. It reminds me a lot of the Famicom services that didn't get localized, and I think the fate of this one will be exactly the same.

Financially, its a great move from them. They will make a heap of money from advertising, and in the unlikely event it actually takes off...

Just a Pokemon cartoon channel (running 24-7) would be incredible in the West.

azelover, well it just started in japan so how is it possible to not be japan centric.
i would love it if nintendo would launch this service in EU. nintendo should make a deal to offer animes, tv shows and movies - both old and new(especially old animes would help it).
original content? well it depends on what it would be(i don't want some shitty videos like on psps psn store) - would be great if nintendo would release anime series/ovas, short movies based on their own franchises.

it would be great if they could make a weekly or monthly tv show about upcoming games and reviews - it would surely help to sale good games.

It wouldn't be in HD, so who cares.

If I was Nintendo I would let anyone watch anything blood and gore, adventure, action, porn, etc but I would charge $5 every 30 minutes.
