Not this time NJ5.
Check out the Metal Gear Solid 4 spike in Japan from June 2008. 77k for MGS4 week one. Then 23k for MGS4 week two. This may be Final Fantasy, which is 4-5 times bigger in Japan, as a full game but the demo pushed PS3 up less, costs more/game play but it isn't a full game. PS3 will probably drop to 20-25k next week - still higher than normal - but with the Final Fantasy XIII demo you have the Square-Enix fanboy effect in full swing. People bought a PS3 for a demo. No other PS3 software got a boost. This implies it was a spike, not a real, lasting increase in demand. The massive sudden jumps on games like this are unstable. A jump to 30k, 35k would have been much more promising as it would have likely lasted 4-5 times longer.
