Forums - General - World History or *insert your country here* history?

I was catching up with an old friend, and I learned that he wants to be a historian? Honestly the last thing I thought he wanted to be! Anyway, we both agreed that U.S history was better. He said that it's closer to home and more personal, and touching of all the brave things great heros went through to get us to here today. I said because it was shorter.     -_-

Anyway, what do you think?

I like US history more. There's plenty of neat stuff to learn. I was very interested when I first learned about this man, for instance. He's a good ol' Patriot.

English History, why?

its long and fascinating, from romans to the empire, our history has alot to offer, i really enjoyed history at school.

British History.

You get to study about the greatest empire to have ever existed.

The classical Greek period is my favorite. You really get a sense of where western thought came from.

I would suggest that while you may prefer a certain countries histories you really should look at the world in the grander scheme of things to truly understand a country. Studying English Imperialism would be extremely useful when studying American history for example. Nothing exists in a vacuum.

US history: We saved Europe from utter annihilation 3 times (incl Cold War) and are the world's hyperpower.

Argentinian history is boring and depressing. Everyone who had good intentions was either ignored, censored or deposed, everyone who had great power was an asshole or a corrupt.

Not that World history is any different, though. But I like reading about the wars, they're quite interesting

While I love US History, I would have to say World History. Mainly because the US s such a young country, and there have been lots of great things to happen in the entire world and to ignore it is a shame.

The USA has no or little history. What they call history we call modern events lol. But seriously it only has a two hundred+ years of real history.

British history is jam packed full of stuff, but to justify it I'm going to go with European history as just British history would make little sense without the rest of Europe. Italy, France, Germany, Spain, it's been one hell of a ride.

Now as for people of historical importance I'm afraid no-one can beat the British.

World history pretty much is British history.

I kid, I kid.
