Forums - Nintendo - Im going to play Zelda for the first time ever. Im very excited!!

Well if you have no problem with tough as nails dificulty, and graphics don't matter to you I would suggest you to start with the first one and keep going foward. Not only it will give a view of the series as a whole but it'll allow you to see how the games have evolved with each instalment.

On the other hand if you're shallow and graphics are that important to you (yes I hate graphic whores), or you are a pussy and dificult games make you wanna give up (which would also make me hate you), start with TP and keep working your way back till the graphics start to bother you.

adventure of link is not that hard actually (it's has the same difficulty as the first one for me)... it's just that you always return to Hyrule Castle every time you get a game over. (except when you're in temples I forgot to add)

I also think you should play it by the order that they were made.

Well, there are 3 gaming series' that most console gamers tout as "best of all time" due to their ability to consistently stay great/amazing over many, many games(and years). Those are Mario, Zelda, and Final Fantasy. Some others have the potential, yes, and some do come close, Castlevania, Resident Evil, GTA, and MGS, for example. However, no other series can enter that sphere of excellence until one of those other series' falters.

To answer your question, start with either Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time. Besides LttP, they are imo, the best two games of the series, followed closely by Wind Waker.

Enjoy gaming heaven.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I have nothing but good to say about the entire Zelda series, go after all of them if you can. The only one's I would avoid are the wind waker and maybe the four swords.

I thought WW was awesome. Most people I ask who are Zelda fans loved that one. I get a lot of hate on WW from folks who avoided it completely because of the graphics, but I think it had the best gameplay and atmosphere of the series in 3D.

You call yourself a gamer, and are yet to play Zelda...

I feel sorry for you.

Why? OP gets to experiance those wonderful games for the first time. Thats something we will never be able to experiance again.

Start with Ocarina of Time. That's my favorite.

Whatever you do, don't skip Majora's Mask or Wind Waker, my 2 favourites for sure and those two games are the ones that don't worsen with age due to them being so different.
