I don't really care about stats. I use the characters I like. Generally, this leads to having a ton of light-weight users (myrmidons, mages, rangers, etc) so I end up being in trouble on certain chapters.
Avoid > def.
That's a thing I've been noticing in the GBA FEs. Essentially, you'll always take damage if you're hit. If you're a general, a mage will get you. If you're a fighter, a hero will. Etc.
But avoid - avoid is always there. If you have 60 avoid (several of my units do in FE6, and the same was the case in FE8, and to some extent FE7), what does that mean? Well. Generally, your opponent axe users have a 80-90 accuracy. If you're a sword user, this leads to a 10-20% chance of hitting. Well, not exactly. The modern FE games use 2 numbers for the RNG. So with a displayed 15% chance of being hit, it's really 4.6%.
Or really - you won't get hit. It takes off 95% of the damage.
If you're a mage, you're at 20-30%, which would lead to a truehit of (truehit link: http://www.serenesforest.net/general/truehit.html) 8-18%. Takes off a fair bit, eh?
And the same is true for lance users, but to a slightly smaller extent (they have the same hit % really, but advantage against sword users). Light and Darkness users share the same faith.
Now, sword users are something else. They're up at 110% sometimes. That leads to the hit chance being 50-50. Anima users fit in here as well.
So essentially, here's the deal for me.
High avoidance units can beat
- Axe users
- Lance users
- Light Magic users
- Dark Magic users
And then you have some other units to get the
- Sword users (you have a lance user or two)
- Anima user (A Shaman should hit you well here, or a Pegasus Knight.
Also, I agree with WoW - Over 20 chars is pushing it.
