Please answer the question with your sales estimates for first week of PS3 console sales only.

I believe PS3 could notch 400 000+ in first full week of PS3 price cut.

Please answer the thread question with your sales estimates for first week of PS3 console sales only. 

Let's see how close you get to the total when it does happen later on this year.

In all regions simultaneously?
If so I estimate at least 500k for the first week esp since when this price cut does happen it will be towards end of year (most likely) and sales will only increase week by week until after the holiday period



Predictions

GT5 will sell 3.2million + first week on ps3 (made 06 March 2010)

FFXIII Versus will have higher Metacritic scores than FFXIII after the first month.... Bet going on with perpride - loser changes sig for a month

KH3 will be PS3 EXCLUSIVE - willing to bet removal from vgchartz for a month

That depends on when PS3 got price cut.

If in september I predict 195,000

Well last $100 price drop caused PS3 to go from 160K worldwide to 230K worldwide. Use that as your guide and likely PS3 sales after $100 price drop will be sub 250K. That last drop was November 2007.

That really isn't a guide though. As the price gets lower, the PS3 gets more potential sales. For example. People may be waiting for a 250$ PS3. Some people may be willing to pay 299$. Not the 250$ Target audience though. But when PS3 gets to 250$ , both the 250$ and 299$ Target audience will pick a PS3 up.

This is without a price drop and in JUNE. If Sony can afford it and are smart, they will drop the price when Gran Turismo 5 launches.

Yes and people were waiting for a $399 PS3 when Sony dropped it $100 before.  Last week the PS3 sold 130K.  Show many any time that a consoles sales tripled because of a $100 price drop.  Even when the PS2 dropped from $300 to $200 the sales jumped from 175K to 320K. It was at 240K a couple weeks before the price drop so looks like rumours of price drop caused sales to slow until the price drop happened.  Maybe that is how Sony can get a triple boost. They can announce a November price drop in September to get a huge boost in November.
