Honestly I think people just don't want to buy PSP games. DS is probably the most pirated console ever and still manages to sell games pretty damn well.

People like to claim that the PSP is pirated more because you just need to hack your firmware rather then buy something on the internet.
Apparently hacking firmware is easier then buying something sold on amazon.
For me... I wouldn't even know how to hack the PSP. I would know how to buy a card on Amazon though.

I'm glad that they're working with publishers.
Sony could just change the way that PSP games check what firmware is being run. ATM, the games just check the version number and, if it's lower than when the game was released, the firmware will be installed on the PSP.
Pirates got around that by putting a firmware version number really high so that games will always think that the firmware installed is of a later version.
However, using key codes for checking could prevent this - so the game asks the PSP for the firmware version and that firmware version's code (plus some other details like model number, etc, with more unique key codes), if all the detail don't add up, the game will refuse to play / force a new firmware installation on the device.
If they gave us more psone games, to the store, i wouldn't have to mod it, just to play psone games. That's the only reason it's modded.
I know of someone who once had a modded PS2, we could rent, borrow, or download any game we wanted and just burn it to a disc. It becomes sort of how downloadable demo's are now. You will download a demo just to play it to try it out, and if it is any good you will go out and buy the game if you liked it. The problem with piracy of the full game is that if the games aren't any good you just stash them away or toss them in the trash and if it is good you keep playing your illegal copy.
They can educate all they want but people are going to do whatever they can to get away with it because they feel it doesn't affect them and that if they quit doing it it is only a drop in the bucket and doesn't add up to much difference.
Solutions
The problem here is the prices are too high for the masses and there is a convenience factor with downloads. (think about this iTunes prices really aren't better then buying the disc but they now have a larger market share then any other music store including Wal-mart or Best Buy, its about convenience)
So if Sony really wanted to combat it they would open up a PSP store online let you pay to download games to your own memory stick. You combat piracy by making it less hassle.
i think its good that games r pirated coz original are so expensive!here i can get 15 pirated psp games for the price of 1 original!
I think PSP will have some good software sales soon enough when all those games are released. I think the PSP just needs some strong exclusive franchises. Third parties are dropping support from everyone. They can make up their mind this generation.

In many cases when hacking the PSP you still need the Pandora battery thing. So its not just a matter of putting hacked firmware on a memory stick. Most people don't even know how to use Windows Update let alone install hacked firmware.
I've used the DS cards and they couldn't be easier to use. Its like putting songs on an MP3 player (And I don't mean that iTunes bullshit).

Hey I agree. I'm just saying what people have tried to argue with me. Because i'm a natural born devils advocate who likes to see all sides raised.
