This is the Amazon charts...

Yes, but the rise in sales in very apparent in Japan due to it being high in Media Create and the Famitsu charts.

oh, I don't deny that it is probably getting a boost due to the Anime in Japan and the DLC/sale in the US, but this is still amazon we are talking about here. #1 on the charts sounded impressive until I realized they were talking Amazon.

It's also the PS3 charts.

Although, I wish the boost could be seen from the VGC numbers and not just the other tracking services.

The fact that this is so highly rated, that the Playstation brand is considered "the best platform" for JRPGs and yet this has sold so little doesn't speak well to the health of the genre as a whole.

~350k WW sales can't be making any of the creators happy.

I think beyond Japan these JRPGs can't really be considered system-sellers in today's age.

Or, perhaps PS3 owners have spoken about what entertainment titles they want... and they aren't JRPGs.

On the 360, Tales of Vesperia seems to have outlined that there are too many of these types of titles on the 360 for the market to support.

The difference in sales between the two (Vesperia on 360 and Chronicles on PS3) is only 80k units, and that's with Vesperia no longer being produced in the US...

Weird days indeed.

You realize that Tales of Vesperia should have completely obilerated Valkyria Chronicles in sales, right?

Great news, this game really and truly deserves franchise status.

Yes, it's a terrific game -- I haven't had time to play more than a little bit, due to a hectic schedule, but the little bit I've spent has me hooked. They created something unique, by taking bits and pieces of other videogame genres (sims, RPGs, real-time action, 3rd person shooter, etc.) and creating a seamless, memorable whole. I'll definitely be spending my summer months on it.

Try the PSN demo version, if you're not sure, but I highly recommend buying it. As fans, we need to support the quality franchises out there, and help keep the creators creating.

Not to mention he just compared an established JRPG IP to a new SJRPG IP.

Not to mention there is nowhere near "too many of these types of titles on the 360 for the market to support".

WTF's going on with bringing up Tales of Vesperia and the 360 in a Valkyria Awesome thread? Let's get back to business, and be pleased that VC seems to be securing some more sales, huh? The more people that buy the game, the more likely we are to get a sequal.

If you haven't bought it already, go do so. It won't suit everyone, but neither will any game. Personally, I love it, and so should you. One of my favourites this gen, wthout reservation or hesitation.

@nordlead

Yeah they were talking about #1 on Amazon for PS3 sales but the game has also been #1 on the Gamestop PS3 list for weeks. It is now sold out online at Gamestop for new and used copies.

or the fact that its not a JRPG, its a SRPG, which tend to flop on consoles.

And I think I need to mention that I'd pay obscene amounts of money for that Valkyria painting/picture/poster.

I am sure everyone knew that without you needing to mention it.

I also think you should automatically win the VC contest just because you spread more word about this game than anyone else by far. SEGA should send you something for being quite possibly the games biggest fan.
