Forums - Sony - The Next PS3 MotorStorm

I've yet to get my hands on the latest full game [Pacific Rift... and yea... I'm broke] but I've been playing both demo's quite often when ever I have friends over. I just recently looked up the release dates of the first 2 games. Motorstorm was released in early 07, Pacific Rift in late 08. BigBig Studios is handling Arctic Edge for the PSP an PS2, so what's Evolution Studios up to?

Is it safe to assume that we can expect a new Motorstorm for PS3 in the first half of 2010? I'd like to see SONY keep this franchise rolling... and there are probably still a few settings they can use...  Sand Deserts [I guess arctic Edge would cover snow deserts], Tundra, Rainforest [slightly covered by Pacific rift], Jungles, Savanas, another game in the mountains? Perhaps even a destroyed city?? [Yes... I just went along with the setting thing and said anything that came to mind.]

But back to what's important! Think we'll see another game for the PS3?? If so then when do you think it will happen?

i would like to see new maps, and the ability to import the other maps from the 1st and 2nd games of the series

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

I don't really know, since Evolution Studios were merged with Sony Liverpool (the WipEout guys) it's tough to see what they might be up to. And with the less-than-impressive sales of Pacific Rift, I doubt we'll see a new Motorstorm game soon.

I rented Pacific Rift a few days ago (I actually have it), and personally, I think they need to spend a bit more time on each game. Honestly, it wasn't even two years between the original and the sequel, and the sequel could still use a bit of work (a bit more AA, and the crash angles/crashes themselves suck half the time, showing my car practically stopped next to a wall... in slowmo. =/ And then there are the ground textures. I played SotC immediately afterwards, and the ground textures in it were just as good!). The game just felt like it needed more polish. Plus, if they release the series too often, it'll get old, and people may stop caring.

It's not something like R&C where the story continues with each iteration, and new gameplay elements are always being added. It's just racing, with better graphics and new tracks. And I knew people getting burnt out on even R&C.

i would love to see another 1. i bought pr a month ago and love it.

what ever the next ms does, it has to do better than fuel. fuel looks like what the next ms should be like.

other than that, i think they need to bring in new locations and a bit of customization e.g. get points from races to buy extra armour, engine coolers etc

i loved how pr breaks the locations into 4; earh, air, fire and water. i think it would be better if they broke it up by region. e.g. the desert, jungle, safari park, iceland etc

full water levels would be nice, racing down a river it water vehicles, down drops and using waves to lanch ur jet ski in the air.

like fuel, have nature change the landscape and force you off road.

I think they're going to make a new Wipeout game first.  Then motorstorm. neither of which will make it out this year...or that's my guess.

Rumors are Liverpool are working on a third person action game.  Afterall, Sony lost the F1 license, and all they've worked on for the past 2.5 years was a Wipeout game for PSN, so it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

As for Wipeout, I think HD is all we'll get for now on the ps3.

Well, dropping to ~1/5th of the sales of the previous version (from ~3.4M for the first to ~650k for the second), I can't imagine that they'd be lining up to kick out a new version any time soon. Imagine the crushing disappointment the devs must have felt after creating a great sequel which ended up selling a mere fraction of its predecessor.

And, *this isn't a slight*, the statement:

"I've yet to get my hands on the latest full game..."

after the game has been out for nearly 6 months doesn't speak much to the developers about the *need* to actually make a new one or your drive to purchase it if they do. (and remember, you purchasing the game is how they make the months and years they spent developing it worthwhile)

Just think: if you'd been saving 33 cents/day since it came out you could own it by now and give the developers a reason to make another sequel. :)

Once again, this isn't an attack - it's more an global observation/statement - if you like a title, support it by purchasing it and thereby support the devs who spent years of their lives making it for you. Otherwise they'll just have to go where the money is and make something else.

Perhaps Early 2010 is a bit too early....

I hope they can get a new Motorstorm out in September 2010. Didn't Sony claim they had shipped 1 million? I hope that's enough for them. Otherwise Evolution/Liverpool should come out with a full WipeOut or a totally different racing game.

I would much prefer a new Motorstorm to a new WipEout, but on the other hand, we have Arctic Edge coming out.
Actually, it could be interesting to see what Evolution can do in other genres.
