Forums - General - WTF is Twitter?

Is this actually something that got media attention because it was popular, or is it something that's starting to become popular (is it even) because the media is trying to drill this site into our skull.

What does it do? Facebook and MySpace have some convenient and useful functions. Twitter just seems like a site dedicated to comments...

its like text messaging or something o_O;

"After you win, son, I feel like going for a ride on your bike, haha." ~Doc Louis (Punch Out Wii)

You get to describe every detail of your boring day. I suppose it's popular among stalkers.

A very stupid take on social networking.

For some reason the media is going crazy over it, I personally think the media is being paid a singnificant amount of money to advertise it, because to me its a waste of time.

I've had one for a long time, don't use it though.

[2:08:58 am] Moongoddess256: being asian makes you naturally good at ddr
[2:09:22 am] gnizmo: its a weird genetic thing
[2:09:30 am] gnizmo: goes back to hunting giant crabs in feudal Japan

Everyone these days seems to be talking about it. I don't know what it really is and what its for.

funny me too, but if found quite interesting if you are a follower of CNN or BBC breaking news. So far that's it!

Its easier to just go to twitter and figure it out for yourself than to have us explain.

I mean I can see the interest, but it is kind of pointless.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
