Forums - Gaming - Is Sakaguchi HAPPY at Mistwalker? If Not....should he return to S-E & FF?

In terms of creative freedom, he is happier. If you go to the official Mistwalker website and read some of his blog posts, you will realize that he is enjoying his life, basking in the Hawaiian sun, and getting ideas and inspiration from everything around him.

How can he be unhappy?

He has two of the best selling JRPGs this generation so far. Lost Odyssey is #1, Blue Dragon sold 450,000+ and it was one of the first JRPG out well before the worldwide 360 sales were at 10,000,000.

Square Enix isn't exactly "lighting it up" for JRPG sales this generation themselves.

I don't think it has yet sunk into people's head about what happened to Sakaguchi........the man was SACKED. Wada was definitely not telling him everything would be fine and he should just worry about making the next flagship FF game, the man was told to go or was treated like shit ala forced to go.

In conclusion Sakaguchi was no longer wanted at Square, if he comes back to SE it will be to teach other how to run a business to the ground with one film. LO and BD were not cheap games, games were cut in price extremely early so no, HD owners will not see another game from him.

Don't worry, MS will spend the money for the better investment of an Itagaki first party studio.

Looking at what Nomura is making and had made as of late, he really would be in the position to wipe his ass with money. As long as he is at SE along with Kitase SE will always be number 1.

The first part is corect. The second part I disagree, because like stated, LO wasn't a bomb for the last time, it actually did well at full price.

Hopefully you are right about the third part.

SE is not really looking number 1 right now. Pity that the DS and PSP are holding it up, because as far as console games go, bomb after bomb. Actually you can say Mistwalker is more sucessful in the HD console market right now than S-E is. Level 5 is even doing better than S-E in the HD console market.

Cactus seems to have been the only member who has lending information regarding the individual and his current, possible mental state/happiness/whatever.

Other than that, I agree with Onyx.......we all have no idea. I hope he is happy because I have really enjoyed his titles.

Actually I know he is happier, I should have pointed to the blogs, but his past history with Square Enix should tell you that he is happier now than he would be back in S-E.

@cactus & theturthhurts

well you can't expect him to say

oh I'm depressed

oh I regret leaving S-E

on his blog

Do you think sakaguchi's is HAPPY at mistwalker

I don;t think he is

what has he exactly done there....made 1 successful game....LO

then the blu dragon DS game didn't do well, cry on got cancelled & so on!

Personally I feel he ISN'T happy there.....he went from the TOP to somewhere where people don't even seem to care much!

I think he should return to S-E & to FF....

You think the guy is unhappy because his games haven't been as successful as the ones while he was at Square? Money isn't everything man, if he has more freedom to do whatever he wants he probably cares less how well all the titles are doing. He is still getting paid, can't always put a price on your freedom.

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

Until DQ IX in the summer and FFXIII at the end of the year.
