Forums - Sales - Killzone 2 Sales Clarification? SCEA proves "Others" numbers are wrong

@potzo: You are correct, you don't have to play online to be counted in warzone. BUT, you DO have to at least go to the multiplayer menu while your PS3 is being connected to the internet.

who knows

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

for some reason i find it hard to believe killzone 2 sold more in america than it did in europe and i have seen lots of developers giving out numbers that were not teh same on vgchartz and they were never changed so killzone 2 shouldnt be any different!

Still, I've heard $40-60 million being thrown around. We now know those are bogus claims.

psh.... ive always held 35 - 40 million stance on this with mathematical equations backing me up. those people claiming 40+ were listening to a rumor started by sufergirl which is funny... because they only took the second part of the rumor and failed to acknowledge the first part which bunks the rumor from the get go

Sony actually stated that God of War 3 was the most expensive PS3 game to 'program' @ $40,000,000 so taking into consideration currency fluxuations and other bla, it probably couldn't be any more than that and likely would be less than that. $30-39M? I would personally tag the $35M mark as being about right.

938933 Warzone players say hi! :)

There are multiple accounts per PS3/copy of game...not to mention rentals. That proves nothing.

Why don't videogames keep open doors on sales like box office movies? It would be nice to know the exact sales for each game,...even if it bombs or is a hit.

Well Gears of War 2 has been played by 2.7m people online, which is just under half its sales, I find it hard to believe that 90% of Killzone 2 owners have played the game online, there are only 17m (maybe 19m) PS3 accounts to over 22m sales, so that percentage does seem off

I think it depends form game to game. I mean gears 2 online is not really the major draw. Halo 3 would be a better example...However I wasn't able to find a total number of halo 3 players online.

This is the best I could do... http://www.gamespot.com/news/blogs/sidebar/909182374/26848073/154-million-halo-3-players-kill-10-billion-covenant.html

What?! What do people play it for then? The 5 hour campaign with a terrible story?

The campaign isnt that bad considering how much its been played.

But there are tons of people that make new gamertags specifically for playing halo 3 online.  I run into at least a couple of new accounts every time i play halo 3 online.
