Forums - Nintendo - So who bought Broken Sword : Secret of the Templars Directors Cut ?

I couldn't beat the one on the GBA, I have no reason to get this and I probably wont.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

Around the Network

I played through about 40% of it and didn't care for it. The puzzles are way too easy and I found the story boring.

I will... once price drops, of course. I'm not going to pay 60€ for a remake (with new content, yes, but still a remake) when I can buy better* games for less than that.

*Note: That better is acording to my personal taste, but this game is not better than Pikmin and it costs half that price!

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I will probably pick up the DS version once it drops to $20.

I was going to buy it and play it with my girlfriend, but from the screenshots I showed her she wasn't impressed. She didn't like the graphic style (being a graphic designer and a bit critical).

So I'm currently waiting for Secret Files II.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)
Around the Network

I bought it, though I wish the game was longer, and had a less rushed ending.

I did! And it's great!

It's sad that these games aren't being made anymore.

PC p&c games released during the past few years and upcoming releases (both very incomplete lists):
Sam & Max Season One
A Vampyre Story
eXperience 112
Ceville
Perry Rhodan
The Abbey
Treasure Island
Simon the Sorcerer 4
Ankh 1, 2, 3
Jack Keane
Secret Files: Tunguska
Undercover: Operation Wintersun

Jane Jensen's Gray Matter
A Vampyre Story 2
Sam & Max Season Two (retail)
Black Mirror 2
Machinarium
Runaway 3
A New Beginning
The Whispered World
Simon the Sorcerer 5*
Still Life 2*
Memento Mori*
Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis*
The Book of Unwritten Tales*
Edna & Harvey: The Breakout*
Gobliiins 4*

*already released in German speaking countries (and maybe also in other countries);
Ceville and The Book of Unwritten Tales got very good reviews (Ceville surprisingly even from US media);
Edna & Harvey was voted the best adventure of 2008 in Germany;

Some of the games listed above are also coming to Wii and/or DS; even PS3 and 360 get some p&c games, as far as I know

Good general p&c sites: http://www.adventuregamers.com/   http://www.adventure-archiv.de/startenglish.htm

So the state of point&click is not sad at all imo (German, Spanish, Scandinavian, French, Eastern European and even a few US companies are still developing these games), but I think there are two things that are a bit sad with regards to Ubisoft's strategy and Revolution Software:
- Like KylieDog said, Broken Sword on Wii (and DS) is way too expensive; all the games listed above are original developments and on the day of their release they were/will already be 10-20€ cheaper than the Broken Sword Wii remake
- Charles Cecil's Revolution Software, being the only surviving classic p&c developer, should really try to develop new games; there's still a market for new p&c games - especially in Europe

Wow, I couldn't disagree with your gf more. Broken Sword is absolutely beautiful. The 2D drwings are gorgeous, completely different from the pretty standard graphics in Secret Files.

I agree with Benga here regarding art style, and you don't have to wait for Secret Files 2, ElRhodeo; it's been released in Germany months ago.

Very good looking p&c games on PC imo: A Vampyre Story, Ceville, The Book of Unwritten Tales and the upcoming games The Whispered World, Machinarium and Gray Matter.
