I sense a lack of information here. How did it escalate from "no you can't search my car" to getting beaten and tazed?

3.Get Beaten and tazed

Something is missing there. I'm not saying that they couldn't have just beaten and tazed him for the hell of it, but the story is short on info. Could be a very misleading piece in order to manipulate the readers views. That's not uncommon.

Both situations arn't uncommon.

"Victims" that hide what they did to make an officer beat them, and officers that beat victims just because they want to.

None of those should be surprising anymore.

Oh, I agree, neither is uncommon. But the story itself doesn't help anyone decipher which this is. It conveniently leaves out what took place between him exiting his car and him having been tazed and beaten. It only says "he was arrested". A big question mark is left there as to what exactly happened.  Without the actual facts as to what happened, it easily changes from a story to a propoganda peice. That's not good journalism, that's sensationalism regardless of how it actually went down. And I'm not saying they didn't beat him just for the fun of it, but the story's intent seems rather obvious when key facts are left out.

Charged with blocking a public highway, lol.
Do they mean with his car that they stopped, or his body that they threw on the road?

According to the video, IIRC, they warned him to cover his eyes because they were gonna break in, then they broke in and tazed him without warning, etc. etc.  So according to him they tazed him before he even exited the car.

I wont pretend to know US law but getting beaten for simply refusing a request seems extreme. Had they just cuffed him and taken him to the local police station then it wouldn't be so bad.

The pastor may be in the wrong here for all I know as the information detailing the event isn't very clear but any overreaction by the police should always looked into closely.

Some of you seem to have no problem with the fact that if you refuse to obey a simple command, the authorities just might taze and beat the shit out of you, even when you're defenseless and not resisting...

I personally would have just let the officers search. I'm not a whore for punishment/difficulties.

There's a time to defend your rights, and there's a time to just let the cops search. Unless he had something to hide? Probably what the cops thought.

he seems kind of whiny. there may be a reason why they were stopping him. there could have been a serial killer in the state.

I read alot of people's opinions on this matter and I'm really shocked that some people would just let the police "break the law" and violate thier constitutional rights because they were a badge. Police are there to serve and prtoect the public, not abuse thier rights and commit crimes. Truly the U.S is turning into a police state, it's very sad.

Not for most people. For most people it's the same as always...

This... despicable. I am all for people obeying and complying with the law, but when you have done nothing wrong, you don't have to submit to a search. The claim that they wouldn't bring the dog back for a second time should show that they were just having a bad day and wanted to taze him.... or something. When you combine this with the recent report from DHS... things are shifting.
