Is refurbed a fancy word for used?

I was wondering about that myself, what exactly is a refurb?

Refurbs are items returned as defective, then refurbished to working condition.  These are consoles that had previously failed in some capacity, but were fixed and now work.

And here I was thinking it meant used and then cleaned, or something.

Yeah, I'd rather shell out...wait, that's a pro?

So it's half the price just because it was once defective? Does it have the three year RROD/E74 warranty?

Who is selling and where they get the refurb from means different things. Sometimes they were not broken, it is just returns because they are no longer new...

The main thing refurbished implies over used, is that it's also inspected/tested. IE: You shouldn't find some basic but less used not working. For example, the second controller port might not be working and not noticed/fixed on a used unit, but it would be tested and repaired if needed on a refurbished unit.

If units are manufacturer refurbished, they typically include all new original packaging and documentation.

Anyways, they are all sold out.
