Forums - Sony - Six reasons why GOW III Will be Bloody Brilliant!

Three reasons this topic irritates me.

1. I found God of War and God of War II were not fanatstic games. Good, somewhat fun and very brutal, yes. But not mindblowing, fantastic or even great. Not a single reason why this game would rise above its predecessors was given.

2. Please stop using acronyms in the topic. It makes me confused.

3. TEH GRAPHICS IS SO AMAZING YOU CAN SEE TEH INSIDES FALLING OUT WHEN YOU DISEMBOWEL SOMEONE is somewhat of an immature statement.

1) That's your opinion, I happen to think that they are two of the best games ever made.

2) The only acronyms were GoW (God of War) and HD (High Definition)

3) You'd think so, but no.

1) vice versa

2) GoW could be confused with Gears of War or whatever else.

3) vice versa

1) They think I am two of the best games ever made? What?

2) I would think that the mentions of Zeus, Olympus, Mythology and Kratos, not to mention the picture, would show that this isn't Gears of War. Besides, Gears of War is more commonly abbreviated to GeOW or Gears, because God of War came first

3) I'd think not, but so? I don't think you understand the meaning of vice versa...

I don't understand why we are talking about Halo in a GOW thread...

Just a short derail. It's over now.

OT: We need a slogan for this game! And not a ripoff slogan like Killzone 2 will be huge. Something original. I was thinking "God of Fucking War!", but you guys can do better than that.

How about the slogan it already has?: "The End Begins"? We can do:

"The End Begins NOW"

or

"The End Begins NOW... B_E_L_I_E_V_E"

lulz

You've created a monster, CGI!

Anyway, The End Begins Now is a bit cliche. How about we all take CGI's...moderately somewhat decent slogan out of our sigs and add this:

The End Begins...March 2010.

Or we can keep the slogans in, and add that anyway. I'll be the first.

Do explain.

Do explain.

It doesn't mean the opposite. It means that the object and subject are reversed. For example:

Wii Sports helps the Wii and vice versa.

Wii Sports helps the Wii, and the Wii helps Wii Sports.

When someone uses faulty grammar or misuses words, it's most often more effective to simply correct them than trying to make an ass out of them. If nothing else, it keeps the conversation from turning into pie-throwing. I actually enjoy being corrected on my english, as it makes me improve.

Thread titles should, in my opinion, always be clear on what the topic is. Acronyms and abbrevations have no place in them.

And I clearly stated in my post that my feelings about the previous games was my opinion. I tend to do that, as too many posters claim their opinion as universal truth.

How about, instead of attacking my grammar and screaming 'Well, that's your opinion', you take your time and try to explain to me why you think I'm wrong on the points that I'm making. That would be a much more fun conversation.

Where in that quote was he being a grammar/spelling Nazi?

Vice versa - he knows what it means, and he's being mean about Galaki misusing it. I really thought that was obvious.
Topic - is what I said, when Thread Title was what I meant. In IRC, Topic is the thing on top in the channel. I am still used to that.

And if you look at his post again, those are the two points he is making.

I would like for someone to give me a reason why someone that didn't like the two previous games would enjoy this one.

You want to know why I like God of War? I was keeping that out of this thread, I figured it was kind of off topic.

Okay,

-It's a hack and slash, but it isn't arcadey, you know with the whole time and high score routine that Ninja Gaiden and DMC do.

-There's more to it than button mashing, the combos are actually effective

-The graphics are excellent

-The enemies are varied, and require different attacks and combos

-The powers are a blast to use, partly because they are so destructive, partly because the effects are fantastic.

-The story is very good, particularly for a hack and slash.

-I love Greek mythology, so I find the setting and Santa Monica's take on millenia-old legends fascinating.

-It's fun to play

-The puzzles make you think. Genuinely think.

-Different segments (such as the Icarus Wings or swimming) break up the action, and walking on foot.

Those are just some of the reasons. Would you care to explain why you think it's overhyped?

And as for abbreviations, look at the forum name. Sony Discussion. Gears of War is not a Sony game. Gears of War never uses Roman numerals, and very little (if anything) is known about the third game. I try not to use them in my titles, but I don't honestly think anybody could see that title, in the Sony forum, and think it was about anything other than God of War.

EDIT: The reason I was pointing out that it's your opinion is because you came into a perfectly good thread (the OP is an article, by the way), and said it was annoying, partly because he used an (obvious) acronym once, and partly because you said God of War III was overhyped. If it's going to annoy you, don't click on the thread.

If I had known it was going to annoy me, I wouldn't have clicked the thread. But it did, so I said so. Usually I manage to stay away from those types of threads.

My point was not that the game was overhyped. The point was that the article failed to produce any sort of gameplay argument that would warrant me getting excited over it, since I didn't like the first two. And whatever you might think, I WANT to like the God of War games. Hell, I bought the first two. Considering how seldom I buy games, that's saying something.

And I really do think that graphicly perfect disembowelment is a very immature selling point, and taken out of the God of War context, so would most people, I assume.
