The advantage of MS points is that a game costs 1200 points no matter where in the world it is sold. Of course, this means the consumer needs to know how much points cost in their country, but thats much easier (and far more accurate) than hearing a game costs US$6 and another game costs 4 Euros and having no idea of what the games are going to cost me in AU$.

Ok, that is a valid point. But I really dont think that is the reason, but I could be wrong. I think its because there is usually a small amount of points remaining and that causes some consumers to want to use them, therefore purchasing more points to get what they want. Then there is another amount leftover. Its a never ending cycle. Just like hot dog and hot dog buns, they never even out lol.
Its a smart and crafty business move and I commend them for that, but its irritating to some. I guess its not really a disadvantage but more of a pet peeve with me.
