Forums - Nintendo - I guess everyone is a liar.

Take-Two

Sega

Nintendo

The one thing they have in common:

All liars.

Or at least that is what it seems. Recently, all three of this companies have expressed satiisfaction in the sales performance of several of the games on Nintendo platforms (and a few others) and every time, people have agreed that they are LYING. What is it so ard to accept that these companies are telling the truth and are not trying to save face.

I figured if there was a problem, they would ignore sales questions altogether, but I guess that is not the case. Nobody can find success on Nintendo systems besides Nintendo.......

What is going on guys!?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I dont know about nintendo but as for take two and Sega i think they are trying to reassure them selves that the games will have legs. However this remains to be seen.

who's saying they're lying. People are just saying that simply because a company doesn't come out with doom and gloom doesn't mean that everything is rainbows and puppies.

The only thing I've seen is people cautioning that the word "encouraging" does not directly equate to "successful"

...

They are not lying, they're just not telling the truth.

well they obviously can't say their sales sucked, because that would be bad publicity, so their only other choices are saying nothing or saying what they're saying now.

i'm not saying they are disappointed with sales, just that you can't really tell one way or the other.

okay I will call you - Prove it.

well the only one that i see being bad is sega. alot of expensive hardcore games. whereas take-two is making cheap party games

Typically you tout game sales and good or excellent until you release quarterly profit statements then pan them.

MadWorld is the first game from a developer that, in its previous incarnation, had not made a blockbuster.

GTA CW is not like the main series games, and even VCS had opened no better in its first couple weeks.

I think Sega and Take Two knew that big openings were unlikely. Legs are more likely, same with No More Heroes, Boom Blox, De Blob, World At War, etc. All of those were brushed off as flops after the first month.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
